Pelicana Chicken in Palisades Park, NJ is a true staple for Korean fried chicken lovers. Founded in 1979, Pelicana has grown into an international brand while staying true to its roots serving flavorful, high-quality chicken that brings people together.

Their signature Yangnyeom Chicken is outstanding, made with a unique blend of 20 fresh ingredients that give it a perfect balance of sweet and savory. I also love that Pelicana focuses on healthier options; since 2012, they’ve reduced sodium by 20% and use deep-sea salt, making it one of the lower-sodium choices among major brands.

Crispy, delicious, and made with care Pelicana is always worth the visit!

I ordered the seasoned (yangnyeom) chicken, but it was extremely dry and tough — even though it’s supposed to be saucy. The coating was so hard it felt like plastic, not crispy at all. The sauce looked dark and burnt, almost like it had been fried multiple times. It was so tough it felt like chewing on dried pollack! It didn’t taste like soy sauce chicken either, just overcooked and hard. Honestly, it felt like reheated leftovers from a few days ago.

Everything was delicious! I will be coming back again.
Cheese balls were good but they were sweet?

I ordered a spicy chicken burger here and I was so disappointed as soon as I saw the food. First of all, the burger is a lot different from the pictures they advertised. It doesnt have chopped lettuce (only a slice of lettuce), and the size of the burger is ridiculously small (its basically smaller than half the size of my hand). I can’t believe I paid $11 for this, and I won’t be coming back any time soon.

My husband and I stopped by Pelicana Chicken for a late-night dinner, and it brought back happy memories of eating Pelicana in Korea. We ordered half-and-half original and original spicy bone-in chicken, along with stir-fried chicken gizzard. Even after eating the chicken 15 minutes later in our hotel, it was still crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. The stir-fried chicken gizzard was easily the best I’ve ever had—I wanted to go back for another! Also, don’t miss out on the corn salad.

The service was fantastic; the owner made sure we were comfortable while waiting. This place also has BYOB, and you can get free chicken on your birthday! Such a fun spot to hang out. We’ll definitely be back when visiting NJ.

TLDR.
Food was ok, but the attitude of the server made us never want to visit again. There are plenty of Korean fried chicken places that have similar food with better service. We will probably never visit here again.

The table we were seated was extremely wobbly that any light push would tip the cups and the water jug. This made the whole dining experience was unpleasant to begin with. There is a very simple way to fix this, but they are either unaware of how to fix it or are just really lazy and not willing to do it. To be fair we did not let them know about it, but the following experience prevented me from doing so.
Our table was missing a chair (only had 3 instead of 4). There were only 3 of us but we wanted the extra chair to put our bags and jackets. When we asked the server if we can get a chair, I was told that I should ask the other customers myself if I wanted the chair back at our table. I believe that it is not my responsibility to communicate with other customers to retrieve the chair back that should have already been available at our table.
We ordered only ONE dipping sauce, but they brought us two instead of one. Did not think much about it since we were enjoying the food. When the bill was brough to us, they charged us for TWO dipping sauces. Not a big deal since it was only a dollar, but I generally do not like paying for what I did not order.
Throughout the whole dining experience, the server was busy chatting with her boyfriend or whatnot (a table with a group of young men that she kept on engaging) and looked somewhat annoyed when called to do her job. Series of these events made us feel somewhat uncomfortable and we agreed never to come back again while still eating. There are plenty of other Korean fried chicken places nearby with similar food with similar quality but with much better service.

Stopped in spontaneously and really enjoyed our experience. As you can see from the pictures, outside it’s just a typical, ordinary store front. Walk inside and you get kind of a sleek, modern vibe. The young lady hostess/server who take care of our table was truly awesome. I wish I would have gotten her name to shout her out because she did an outstanding job. She was very knowledgeable, honest and consistently checked with us to make sure we were good. We ordered the bone-in original fried chicken, soy garlic wings, regular French fries, Honey Butter (I believe that’s name) Fries, and Fried Chicken Dumplings. Everything was made to order so there was a slight wait but it was not a surprise as our server did inform us when we ordered. I prefer fresh, quality food, so I didn’t mind the wait. Everything was really delicious but I especially enjoyed the soy garlic wings and fried chicken dumplings. My company went to town on the original fried chicken and and the French fries. The regular French fries came with a cheese shredded / crumbled on top that we could have done without but they were eaten nonetheless. It was all-in-all a great experience. My only minor gripe is I wish what was playing on the screen was a little more kid friendly. Besides that, a great experience. I look forward to visiting again.

Hands down my favorite Korean Fried Chicken joint in New Jersey. The Pelicana at PP delivers the most consistent sauce flavor and portion size among all other KFC places in my opinion. In addition, they always run promos which significantly helps the wallet. I’ve never eaten at the restaurant but it has the typical KFC vibes, fun, good music, with plenty of booze. About to place my weekly order here!

Bought food for my bf and I, and it was delicious.
We ordered 2 white honey garlic ugly sandwiches, 1 truffle mayo ugly sandwich, sweet potato fries, and 5 pc cheese ball to go.

The ugly sandwiches’ chicken are really crunchy, along with sliced cabbages inside.
The sweet potato fries are sweet due to the sugar sprinkled on top, and the cheese balls have mochi inside, so it’s cheesy and a tiny bit sweet.

The person who handled our order was super sweet and super nice.
Definitely recommend

I was really looking forward to trying this chicken restaurant, but the experience was a big disappointment. The food itself was okay, but the service was some of the worst I’ve encountered.

The servers seemed completely uninterested in helping customers. We were ignored for a long time before anyone bothered to take our order, and even simple requests—like getting a drink—were met with attitude or ignored altogether. No one checked in on us during the meal, and it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than customers.

Good food can’t make up for unfriendly, careless service. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back, and I can’t recommend this place until they seriously improve their staff training and customer service.
