Pelicana Chicken was a small fried chicken shop in Daejeon, South Korea that opened in 1979. By combining 20 different fresh ingredients, Pelicana was able to create the famous Korean yangnyeom sauce. Today, it is one of the largest food franchises in Korea, with locations in China, Australia, Mongolia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Canada, and the United States. WHY PELICANA? People believed pelicans carried food in their pouches to bring back to their children. To many Koreans, that idea overlapped with the memories of parents bringing home a fried chicken on pay day. That’s why the pelican was chosen, symbolizing the joy of sharing delicious meals with loved ones.

This place is a spot if you are looking for something closer to hilton hotel. It’s a nice spot for chicken and beer. We went to izakaya and the server forgot to fire our order and we waited like an hour for the food. It was disappointing night and luckily after walking around the source mall we found this place.
I recommend this place and serves are attentive and fun! We stayed at Hilton 2-3x a months and will surely come back again. Thank you!

Came on Valentines Day and we only waited like 10 mins, we got our food really fast as well. They were out of rice but they let us know right away that they were out and offered to switch the order to something else. Checked up on us enough that we didn’t feel rushed or forgotten. The new soju drinks are delicious!

Great deal of chicken burger combo! With extra $1, we got one small fries and one sprite! The chicken was really thick, juice, and tasty. The fries were ok. The service was improvable. It wasn’t because of any individual staff, but seriously lack of staff. There was only one person to serve all of the customers and reset tables. The restaurant was 80% full and some take-outs. This is the problem of the restaurant owners and managers. We saw the staff running this table and that table without rest. But, he was in good and polite attitude and saying sorry for not providing immediate service. I wanted to give him personal high rating of service, but the restaurant itself doesn’t deserve good raring. The environment of the restaurant is fine. However, there were so many stuff stocking inside the restaurant that customers can see when seated. It is not very well organized and arranged environment. However, chicken was really good.

Out of all the Pelicana spots I’ve tried, the one at The Source OC is definitely a favorite. We got there around 5 PM on a weekend and didn’t have to wait at all, which was nice. Our food came out pretty quickly too.
We ordered the combo set for three people- boneless half & half chicken, cheese balls, sweet potato fries, and tteokbokki. I honestly didn’t expect much from the tteokbokki, but it was way better than I thought! Just a heads up though, it might be a little too spicy for some people- proceed with caution!
The music was a little on the louder side, but still good enough for a conversation. Overall, a great spot to hang out with friends or family!

I walked in and ordered take out it was a wait about 15 minutes from what I remember. They told me I will receive a text when the food is ready. I got a popular flavor the sweet and spicy one. The flavor was good but mild. The girls at the register also waited table it was full inside so they were busy but still attentive to any questions or concerns I had as it was my first time. I wasn’t able to eat it well because the meat was red and black I was worried and really made my experience not great. I’m not sure if that’s normal but I didn’t appreciate that. I would ask the chicken to be extra crispy next time and see how the chicken is inside.

It felt understaffed. We clicked the Call Staff button on the iPad at our table 2-3x before somebody came to help.

Absolutely delicious! The chicken was juicy, the price was decent for a half chicken that fills you up. The only reason why I set the price to $20-30 is because we got sides but you can easily fill up on <$20. We also got the tteobokki. Very chewy and the sauce was flavorful. We also got the French fries which were a perfect balance of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Service was great! All the workers were friendly and helpful. Once you get past the wait times, it’s smooth sailing from there. Sadly no appetizers. Oh well. I’m very satisfied with my experience and would definitely come back.

There’s usually a wait but it’s worth it! The food is consistent, the appetizers go well with the chicken, and the chicken is always juicy. Even the boneless chicken is juicy! I love that they provide gloves to make eating with your hands easier as well.

My first experience with Pelicana Chicken was in NYC around their ktown area, so it felt fitting that my first SoCal Pelicana meal was in the OC area that’s like ktown. Food is a solid 3.5 stars and the service is 4 stars, so giving them a rounded up 4 star rating.
After watching a movie at CGV Cinemas on the third floor, we ventured downstairs for lunch. Decent amount of space inside for small and large parties. Our group of three split an order of the banban wings (we got original crispy and garlic sauce – $31) and the peli cheese balls (comes with 5 pieces – $9). Just the right amount of food for us, with a couple of wings left over. Our order of the wings also came with two containers of white radish. Be warned that the garlic sauced wings are heavy on the sauce and garlic, so we actually finished and preferred more of the original crispy wings over the sauced ones. If you have to choose, go with just the crispy wings and the cheese balls.
Service was great: our server refilled our waters and even without us asking for it, knew we needed a to go box for the leftover wings.
