Social Profile:

Pekoe & Bean is first and foremost a tea room and coffee bar. It is dedicated to the bliss and enjoyment of hot beverages and provides the opportunity to sit and enjoy just that. While visitors are more than welcome to pick up a beverage from our full service coffee bar, we want you to try everything we have to offer. The room provides a full tea room service including the traditional tea pot accompanying three tiers of savory and sweet edibles. The three plates range from delicate finger sandwiches to rich velvety cupcakes and will give patrons an opportunity to sit back, relax, be served and enjoy. Although high tea has its roots steeped in a more formal tradition, Pekoe & Bean’s atmosphere is relaxed and informal.

I love this darling spot. I’ve come with my daughter, a friend, my sister, today, with my grandkids.
My grandson gets the mini charcuterie board and my granddaughter and I get afternoon tea.
We all drank tea and had a lovely time. Everything is delicious!
I can’t wait to return.

Had the opportunity to photograph an event here. What a great space, I love when people open little businesses like this. A definite hangout can’t wait to be back in the area so that I can sit and find a nice little corner to work on updates for my business. The staff here was super friendly and the food was amazing. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area or nearby to stop in and sit and relax and enjoy.

I really wanted to love this place. It’s cute and cozy, and when Mattie (purple streak in her hair) is working, the experience is always pleasant. If she were the one running the joint, I’d probably visit more often.

Unfortunately, my experiences when Gabby (gold shirt) is present have been consistently uncomfortable. There tends to be an awkward, tense atmosphere, and I often feel like I’m bothering her just by being there. Because of that, when I do stop in (which isn’t often), I usually try to interact with other staff members if possible.

On my most recent visit (3/7/26) 9:34 A.M. Mattie took my order (Large latte) and there was a small mix-up that required me to purchase an additional espresso shot. No big deal at all. Gabby rang me up for the extra shot. While she was ringing it up, I made friendly conversation, but she completely ignored me as if I hadn’t spoken. She was the only one behind the counter at the time.

What made the situation more uncomfortable was that while adding the extra shot, she began speaking as if someone had complained about her service almost like she was talking to herself while facing me. Becoming visibly upset even though I hadn’t said anything negative. I simply ordered the additional shot, thanked her, and had already tipped.

At that point, I did briefly mention to both her and Mattie the noticeable difference in how I’m greeted and treated by Mattie versus Gabby.

By the end of the interaction, the environment felt so uncomfortable that I didn’t feel at ease saying anything further—even though in the mist of her zoning out in her meltdown she had over poured the honey and milk added to the the extra shot. I asked for a “splash” of milk in the shot. The drink ended up being overly sweet and watered down. Including the tip, I paid over $14 for it.

It’s unfortunate because the other staff members seem friendly and the shop itself has a lot of charm. However, customer service experiences like this make it difficult to want to return, especially with so many other coffee options nearby.

Pekoe & Bean – Tinley Park, IL

Tucked inside an older commercial building along Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park is a quaint coffeehouse called Pekoe & Bean. I’ve driven past it for years with every intention of stopping in, but never did—until today.

Though the building itself is dated, it’s clean and sits in a family-friendly stretch of old downtown Tinley Park.

Stepping inside, you’re immediately struck by the charm. The space is graced with antique-style furniture from a bygone era—tables, artifacts, seating, and décor that create a rustic warmth. The countertop has the feel of an early-era bar. My guest and I were warmly greeted by Debbie, who was personable, attentive, and well-versed in the menu.

I ordered a medium roast coffee and a strawberry muffin, while my guest enjoyed a cheese Danish latte and a lemon poppyseed muffin. Both were excellent—but what truly stole the show was the soup. If you visit, don’t miss their white bean soup with seasonal vegetables. It was absolutely delicious—clearly homemade, perfectly seasoned, with freshly diced chicken breast, greens, white beans, celery, and onions that blended into a flavorful, hearty broth. This is the kind of soup made with intention and care. I could have easily eaten a large bowl and would return just for that alone.

The menu is varied and worth exploring—take your time with it, and don’t hesitate to ask questions. Debbie’s knowledge of the offerings was impressive.

While exploring, I also discovered their private dining rooms, which can be rented for larger gatherings—a great option for groups.

My only concern lies with the location. Parking is very limited, and the narrow entry/exit on busy Oak Park Avenue can be difficult to navigate. The area is car-heavy, which I suspect limits some of the walk-in business. I can’t help but imagine how much better this café would thrive if the strip had wider sidewalks and more walkable streets to match the ongoing revitalization along Oak Park Avenue.

Inside, the atmosphere is cozy, though I think a little brightening—lighter walls or ceilings—would make the space feel even more inviting and alive.

On the walls, you’ll also find local artwork for sale, along with a collection of house souvenirs available for purchase.

One note: the menu does include a request that guests be mindful of a 1 hour and 45 minute seating limit.

All in all, Pekoe & Bean is a charming spot worth visiting—and if you do, make sure the soup is part of your order.

Pekoe and Bean recently catered our event, and we had a great experience! They were able to accommodate us when we needed to make a change, and I could not be more grateful for that. Our guests loved the food! We ordered sandwiches, scones, and mini deserts. Everything was fantastic! Staff was also super friendly and helped me load everything in my car. Thank you so much. Highly recommend!

I rented the smaller “Birch Room” at Pekoe & Bean to host a Galentine’s gathering, and it was absolutely perfect! From start to finish, the team was so accommodating and sweet, making sure everything was just right for our event. The room itself was already beautiful, creating a cozy and elegant atmosphere, but we added in special decor for the occasion.

The food and tea were terrific, with every bite and sip feeling like a special treat. Well worth the wait. My favorite tea was the peach tea. The ambience, service, and attention to detail truly made the experience unforgettable for my small event. Both private room options would work great if you’re looking for a charming, welcoming spot for an intimate or larger gathering, or just to dine in without a room rental. I can’t recommend Pekoe & Bean enough!

Top notch place for tea! I love getting dressed up to go here. They have a nicely curated seasonal menus and the table service is great.

My only complaint is that they really should start training on how to make lattes– just because for the price, I expect it to be a GOOD latte. I took one sip last time of the sugar cookie latte and honestly I left the entire thing because it wasn’t tasty. But everything else phenomenal!

Adorable tea room with a great vibe. Ill break down our experience by first saying we had fun and my daughter just loved it and we would return but probably just for tea . Im a foodie and a chef so I can be a bit critical but all in all everything was fresh and tasty. The portions are very tiny as others have said.. but it’s a small independent business not some big box chain so someone is personally assembling your meal and washing your dishes. This is why they can charge what they do. They use cute little china plates and tea cups and such. There is very limited staff( maybe 2 people?) so you may have to wait a bit but that’s kinda the point.. sip your tea or coffee and slow down. I like that.

We got a mini charcuterie board, a pot of peach tea, and we each got a meal. The food was very fresh and plated nicely. I wouldn’t recommend the charcuterie board… it says assorted meats and cheeses but it was 3 slices of Swiss cheese, 1 tiny Tablespoon of whipped cream cheese with everything bagel seasoning on it, 6 club crackers, 2 pieces of salami and one piece of prosciutto. Just not worth the $13. Assorted should have at least 3 cheeses and 3 meats.. my suggestion would be slice your meats and cheeses super thin and it will go further and at least allow each cracker to have a topping. If you are looking to get a big salad and soup combo this is not the place and I don’t think they intended it to be that. As I said the food was fresh and we loved the tea but with tip our bill was $70 so just not something we personally can do every weekend. But we will absolutely be back in for tea and coffee and maybe a muffin just to enjoy the atmosphere. The tables were full and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. They also have adorable small party rooms in the back that would be perfect for a small baby shower or birthday party if tea time is your thing. Overall I recommend giving them a try. We enjoy ourselves.
