Visiting from Texas, this was unfortunately our very first experience in Boulder, CO and it was incredibly disappointing.

The man who appeared to be the owner seemed completely uninterested in helping. After standing there waiting to be acknowledged, he finally looked at me, threw his arms open in visible annoyance, and said, “Are you going to order?” The tone alone was unnecessarily hostile.

I asked for the seared tuna bowl and politely requested to substitute the tuna for braised pork. Instead of clarifying, he responded in a degrading tone, “What do you mean?” I explained again, and he curtly replied, “We have a braised pork bowl,” as if that answered the question.

When I mentioned the braised pork bowl contains an allergen for me, he said, “It comes on the side,” with no explanation and the same irritated attitude, as though I was expected to already know the ins and outs of their menu.

There was no attempt at hospitality, no effort to accommodate, and frankly no basic courtesy. Because of the miserable attitude from the cashier or owner, we left immediately.

First impressions matter. Unfortunately, this one guaranteed we will not be back.

I really enjoyed my spicy miso ramen bowl with pork belly and egg. I do agree with some others that the egg isn’t cooked like a “typical” ramen place but I didn’t mind. Got here before the lunch rush so my food came out fast.

I went on a Monday so Avanti wasn’t nuts like it is on weekends but the food was fantastic! I got the mushroom bowl and my sister got the seared tuna bowl. They were both delicious and beautiful. The service was great but in this type of atmosphere, “service” is really just taking your order and texting when it’s ready. It was pretty fast though.

Very sad presentation and quality for the pork belly bowl. The rice at Magic Wok tastes better than the rice presented. My partner and I took one bite and threw it out. Better quality products and attention to detail would move the needle a long way.

The most offensive food and service yet in Boulder. Soft egg completely runny and done wrong, obviously not even slow cooked. It’s poached poorly at best. If you’re ordering close to closing the staff will groan and roll their eyes that they have to make your order. Then the venue closes promptly at 9 so if it takes 15 minutes to make your order… poorly… and Luke warm in temp… be ready for the host to kick you out. What a 1-2 punch of hospitality. Absolute garbage food service temperature hospitality and skill. Don’t patronize them just because they’re the only place serving ramen. It’s beyond rude it’s offensive they could even hold down a booth here. What a tragedy. I’ve never seen so much disrespect on so many levels.

The ramen has very flavorful broth as well as by far the best braised pork I’ve ever had. With that I got the yuzu cheesecake which has a very charming combination of the tart yuzu and sweet mango sauce.

The food was okay, but the service really ruined the experience. The staff seemed uninterested and acted like serving customers was a burden. If that’s how they feel, perhaps they should consider a different line of work.

The “what came first” bowl is without a doubt the best tasting dish in all of Avanti’s restaurants
