I ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan and two pork egg rolls. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was very bland. The sauce was basically thickened chicken stock. No garlic, no ginger, no oyster sauce, no flavor. The chicken was slightly weird – not the usual texture I’m used to in this dish. The vegetables were a joke. There were maybe 4 pieces of carrot, some mushrooms (good), and the rest was cabbage. Cabbage isn’t even normally in the dish. There were no snow peas, no bamboo shoots, no water chestnuts.
The egg rolls. I don’t even know what was in them. The filling had the consistency of mashed potatoes with a little bit of diced veggies mixed in. I’ve never even encountered an egg roll like this before. It wasn’t a pleasant surprise.
I asked for hot mustard. I was given a few packets of soy (bland) and a few of duck sauce. No mustard.
This is my favorite dish and I’ve been trying different places in Savannah trying to find a place that does a decent job. This wasn’t it.
It’s not sauce heavy or too dry, fried rice has a proper seasoning blend, lo mien is good, maybe the fried dumplings are kinda mid but not bad.
Good Chinese Food place, so far haven’t found anything better around Savannah.
I’d give the food a 8/10
