Today I had a chance to try the new Pei Wei in Owasso over lunch.
Gotta admit, I went into this with the whole mindset of “taking one for the team”, since, well, it’s Pei Wei….
Planning on a take out, I parked and went in. I was greeted by a very friendly young lady who promptly took my order and gave me a hockey puck buzzer thingy.
I barely had time to open up my phone and check email before the buzzer went off and my order was ready.

Cut to home. As I said, it was takeout, so expectations were pretty low right out of the chute.
Gotta admit (again) I was surprised. The entree was just over $13 with tax and for that I got a respectable amount of food. I went with the Hot Honey Chicken and steamed rice, and it turned out to be amazingly good. Just the right amount of heat, plenty of flavor and everything cooked properly.
The place itself is fairly small with limited seating, so I get the impression the business model is “get your food and go”, which is fine. I read online they are only open until 6pm, so that’s gonna limit options to lunch time for me.
I’m notoriously snooty about franchises, preferring local joints when possible, but I wanted to give Pei Wei a shot just so I’d know, and this time, I’m glad I did.

My chicken seemed a bit undercooked. And I felt sick a few hours later.

The service was great though. Staff was nice but they seemed a short staffed. No manager appeared to be in the store. This Pei Wei doesn’t seem to have much traffic in the evening. So, place is rather clean.

Parking is slim.

I like the decor and the booth-like seating was plush and comfy.

Absolutely fantastic food here!

Despite its smaller form factor compared to other Pei Wei restaurants the quality comes out the exact same!

The food came out quick, hot, and clearly made to order. They just opened this location and it’s beautiful, clean, and holds a higher standard compared to its local competitors.

I highly recommend trying the chicken lettuce wraps or the Firecracker Tofu!

5/5 stars will definitely be back!

Pei Wei is PF Chang with a fast food atmosphere. What is the food is awesome! Personally, I love the Mongolian beef with snow peas.

I had a great lunch experience at Pei Wei in Owasso. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and not overly crowded, which made it perfect for a relaxed midday meal. The staff was friendly and efficient, and my order came out quickly and fresh. I ordered the salad dish with salmon not knowing that it was raw. They even offered to switch it out. I just switched my dish with the person I went with, his was a salad with chicken. It was delicious! (He said his salmon salad was delicious too!) Good portion size, fresh, has that refreshing taste. Definitely worth the price, under $15 per plate.

This is a great alternative to Panda, better in a lot of cases. Wife and I love the poke bowls and Mongolian steak. Ariya and Jacob are also great at making you feel welcome! Both greeted us with smiles and went out of their way to be helpful. Made it very pleasant to be here. Jacob noticed me eyeballing the chicken dumplings and brought me some which absolutely floored me and thrilled me! Seriously you have the best team! We love it here thank you Jacob and Ariya!

Extremely loud in there, couldn’t hear myself think. All the sound echos in the building. Had to eat outside due to the amount of noise but prices were good and food was good. But took absolutely forever to get our food. And they didnt bring any silverware with the food.

For the love of all things edible, can someone at Pei Wei Owasso please stop turning every dish into an accidental seafood special? This is not a nationwide Pei Wei issue—this is a you issue, Owasso. There is absolutely no universe in which spicy Korean BBQ should taste like it was marinated in Eau de Fish Market. If the recipe called for fish sauce, fine—but it doesn’t. Not in Korea, not anywhere outside of Poseidon’s test kitchen.

And it’s not just the Korean BBQ. Pad Thai? Fishy. General TSO’s? Fishy. Sesame chicken? Somehow… also fishy. I lived in Thailand for ten years, and trust me—shrimp paste is in half the cuisine, but nothing tasted like fish unless it was, you know… actual fish.

At this point, I’m convinced Owasso has discovered a secret, unstoppable fish essence that seeps into everything. Five stars for fishiness, zero stars for literally everything else.

Update: had a couple meals that were not appetizing. The manager refunded our money. After talking I’ll be back to try again because they were so nice. Upping my review to 3 stars for them being understanding and refunding. Everybody works hard for their money. It’s hard to pay a lot of money for fast food and have it not taste good, unfortunately happens a lot to me and I have never asked for my money back until now. The manager was more than understanding and earned my respect. I’ll be back to give it another shot.

We ordered the lettuce wraps the kids teriyaki chicken and fried rice, and the drunken spicy noodles all of it was amazing!
