I don’t normally write reviews unless something is really awful or truly exceptional. In this case it’s a ladder. These sandwiches are out of this world – especially the one I got. We ordered three sandwiches for our family to share one roast beef, one ham and cheese and one smoked turkey. The smoked turkey and roast beef were absolutely exceptionally good. The ham and cheese was probably average. They all had very generous portions of high-quality ingredients. It’s definitely quite pricey for a sandwich but well worth the price, in my opinion. We took ours togo and ate them beside the pool with a glass or I should say a bottle of local wine. They’re ready relatively quickly probably a 15 to 20 minute wait. They were sold out of most of the bread options by the time we got there on a Sunday around noon.

Okay so first trip to Solvang ever! I read amazing reviews about this place, and it really good! But to be honest, it wasn’t nearly as amazing as people made it sound. It’s a GOOD sandwich (I had the Mortadella with everything on it), but a couple notes (this is for me personally:

1) sandwich was PACKED with delicious ingredients, but I didn’t feel like they jived together. They tasted separate as opposed to one amazing flavorful bite.

2) the bread was amazing! Truly great, nothing wrong there.

3) Get the sandwich how YOU want it. I’m the kind of guy who can eat anything, but I wouldn’t get the house spread and sauces they thee on there again. I think that’s potentially what brought disharmony to the sandwich for me.

Atmosphere is SUPER awesome, nice outdoor seating and the woman working front of house was really nice!!

TLDR: Would come back again, but take my expectations down and make the sandwich EXACTLY what I want. It’s a pricey sandwich for the high-quality ingredients, so that’s worth it if you got the dough.

I’ve been a customer of the deli since they opened. Anyone who says anything bad about this place is going to have to fight me. For anyone who’s been lucky enough to try Katz’s or the OG Carnegie in NYC, Langer’s or Greenblatt’s in LA (not bothering to include Canter’s) — Peasant’s has better pastrami. Better than any of them. Period. I’ve seen them make it 3 or 4 different ways. Usually they serve 2 or so styles at a time. It’s always fantastic.

Their Godfather is a take on the Bay Cities Godmother. A pretty great one at that. Their jamon is incredible. They just get that great sandwiches are made first and foremost with great ingredients. There is no hiding quality on a sando, and they don’t try. The portions are huge, and it’s all so, so good.

You can’t go wrong here.

Party of 4 – Take out order: Kobe Roast Beef sandwich & The Godfather

For someone like myself who prefers a hot sandwich more so than cold ones, Peasants Deli’s “Kobe Roast Beef” would be an exception to the rule! Wish we had an extra day to spend so we can also try their Smoked Turkey sandwich 😛

Kobe Roast Beef $17.99
house roasted Kobe beef, arugula, shaved red onion, grana padano, horseradish aioli, aged balsamic, Bob’s sesame French roll

The Godfather $17.99
spicy cacciatorino salami, coppa, mortadella, smoked provolone, sweet & spicy pepper relish, the works, Bob’s Well Bread sesame roll

*The Works: house spread (brown mustard & house made mayo), shaved red onion, sliced tomato, shredded lettuce, Italian dressing, salt & pepper

They have a couple of seating area(s) available inside if you decide to chill for a minute, dine-in and play at the arcade.

It’s been two weeks since my experience but it has stuck in the back of my mind and I feel the need to leave a review. I am a huge sandwich fan and when I read the stellar reviews I knew I had to try it for myself… The staff was pleasant and the location is charming but the sandwich… was less than the sum of it’s parts.

The ingredients were all high quality and, individually, they tasted good but I had trouble getting through the second half of my sandwich. I purposefully got the mustard on the side but even without it, I was left with a strong biting taste of horseradish? It was honestly hard to place.

Personally I would save the money and just got to Jersey Mike’s down the road.

If you haven’t tried this place, you need to! The most scrumptious freshly baked bread (in house) for the most delicious sandwiches. My husband had the Godfather and I had the Brady and we were both in heaven. Their baked Dutch bread is to die for! I had to order a few rolls to take home. You won’t regret this gem of a restaurant. Bonus is the fantastic arcade connected to the deli with games like vintage TMNT and pinball machines. Will definitely be frequenting this place. Yum!

We went in and ordered a couple of sandwiches. Wife had a Turkey sandwich, I had The Godfather. They were both large, filled with meat and cheese and delicious.
They have an arcade off of the deli and there was a lot of kids in there having a blast. Pretty cool
We enjoyed the food and will definitely visit again next time we are in Solvang

Amazing food, great service and lovely spot. The Sofia Loren special has got to be one of the most tasty sandwiches I’ve had. It’s a special so if it’s there when you go, definitely get it

I’ve already shared this on Yelp, but I’ll share here again too.

These are perhaps some of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I can’t even begin to describe the flavors, but the combination of ingredients in the sandwiches were perfect. My friends and I shared “The Godfather” and also “Chopped Italian Sandwich”, and we were thoroughly impressed.

The deli is a small spot with some limited seating in the shop, but there is an additional arcade area where there is more seating available.

I believe Sarah, one of the owners, may have been the person who helped us with our orders. The day we came in, it was raining hard, so being in this shop was a pleasant surprise with its cozy décor and comforting space to take a break from the weather. The place also has a very clean restroom, which is always something I appreciate.

I wish I could take home sandwiches as souvenirs for loved ones.

Arrived at 4:45 due to website stating that they closed at 6pm. No one was there; some of their employees from the restaurant across the street walked by without even saying hello. Continued to waited when the lady finally showed up she seemed annoyed that we were even there. Finally, when I was able to order a glass of wine she informed me they were closing in 10 minutes. That’s all totally fine and I get that there can be website errors but at least be nice.
