I just have to compliment one of the finest soul food restaurants that never misses when it comes to satisfying my taste buds — Pearl’s Place.
From the smothered chicken to the candied yams, mac and cheese, and those delicious homemade rolls — everything is seasoned with love and consistency. My fiancé and I have celebrated our birthdays there with our PUSH family, and the memories we’ve made are truly priceless.
Darryl and Jr. are always so accommodating, and the establishment is warm, welcoming, and user-friendly. Trust me, we’ve come in with groups of 60 people, and they handle it with grace every time.
When I’m craving real home cooking, Pearl’s is the place. It’s in the neighborhood, it’s welcoming, and it feels like family.
This is long overdue, but I couldn’t go another day without giving them the praise they deserve.

I really had my hopes high for delicious soul food . I have seen videos and know people who RAVED about the food being delicious. The plates came out and they were picture perfect, it was just lacking the flavor. The service was a 10/10. ❤️ The restaurant itself, was nice, clean, cozy and family friendly.

Great historical establishment. They have A+ soul food and Kool-Aid. Yes I said Kool-Aid. The choice of 6+ meats(BBQ tips and turkey legs, meat loaf, fried chicken, baked and smothered chicken, and jerk chicken) 15+sides (beets, cole slaw, potato salad, two types of green salads, yams, dressing, baked beans, spinach, turnip/mustard, cabbage, collard greens, green beans, tomatoes, onions, peppers and I am forgetting something. Desserts-peach cobbler, banana pudding, apple cobbler…I have to stop I’m getting full just naming the food items.
Historical people have performed and dined in the walls of this gem. MUST VISIT

Soooo please do not judge a restaurant by its dated decor. Yes pearls keeps it “classic” and retro in terms of atmosphere; however they serve some of the best soulfood I’ve ever tasted. My wife and I are true foodies and dine out regularly, and Pearl’s is a favorite stop of ours. Never disappoints

This was our first time at Pearl’s Place while visiting Chicago. Our group consisted of folks from North Carolina and Wisconsin. Mr. Darryl was wonderful to work with over the phone and a pleasure to meet in person. He and the staff were so friendly. The food was delicious. You can’t go wrong with the all you can eat buffet which offers hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. Additionally, there’s an omelet and salad station. The portions were large which was great. We ordered a whole sweet potato pie which was a marvelous ending to our brunch. Highly recommended!

Excellent service. There was a young man, tall with glasses and some beard, that was very attentive to our table! Polite and friendly! He really made the lunch perfect. Our food was delicious- classic southern style with a few additions like jerk. They seated our large group last minute. Simple decor but worth the while for great food and service.

I was treated to the culinary delights of Pearls Place Restaurant in Chicago over the weekend. I highly and enthusiastically recommend the restaurant and its most delicious food. I jokingly told the server that they should also offer a discount gym membership on the menu. The myriad offerings of soul food immediately transports you back to your grandmother’s or mother’s kitchen. Your taste buds will travel through the joys of African American staples of collards, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, stuffing and a number of other sides. The meat selections of different types of ribs, fried chicken and even neck bones complete the meal and fill your plate. Pearls Place is a gem of African Americana in the City of Chicago, one of America’s leading urban centers.
Moreover, the service is exquisite. Jermaine was most friendly, professional and engaging. His attentiveness to our needs was perfect and meticulous. He appeared to be one of a staff of caring and professional people. The servers at the buffet which is an option to ordering from the menu were equally impressive and kind.
I really appreciated the ambience. I felt like I was in the community amongst the folk. People genuinely appeared to be having a good time. They allowed sufficient time to savor the good food and the company of the people with whom they ate.
Should your travels take you to the Windy City, plan to visit this delightful restaurant with equally delicious food and pleasant people to serve you.

The food is always good, I had some out-of-town guests and this food did not disappoint them either. We were a party of 8 with 2 kids. Service is always great. Next, I have to try the buffet. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals I just didn’t get all the photos cause they were eating it up
