We were celebrating our 4th Year Anniversary and decided we wanted to find a nice romantic new place to eat. We are foodies and have eaten at hundreds of restaurants over the last 4 years. So for us, it was more about being our night but we definitely wanted a vibe and great food. So we researched “Most Romantic Restaurants in North NJ” and we came up to a list. From the list which many listed were restaurants we frequent often, we opted for Pearl as a new experience.

An off time to come on a Wednesday. 5pm place was empty. Waiter was great. Food came out in minutes. Beet salad and chicken franchise. Salad was good. Chicken came out piping hot and super fresh. Vegetables perfect and mashed potatoes creamy. The chicken didn’t have as much lemon flavor as I’d have liked and the portion size was more of a lunch portion. For the price of $29. The salad didn’t have as much dressing as it could have and it would’ve been better mixed rather then Arugula on top. Bathroom was spotless. Bread was ok, a bit dense and dry. Their house made white bean roasted pepper dip was good but needed some salt. Things were good but lacked flavor.

Gotta say this mainstay in Ridgewood is getting better Momma greet you at the door with a couple of lovely young ladies who were very attentive. The swordfish was perfect as was the salmon. The shrimp was perfectly grilled with a yummy avocado, tomato and onion salad and the octopus was great too. Nice Alt Jazz playing and definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend! Enjoy!

The water soured what could have been a nice dining experience. $10 for a bottle of still water that cost $2.79 in the grocery store is unconscionable, especially considering that if you want water to drink in Ridgewood it better not be tap, so unless restaurants are advertising water purifiers, bottle water is mandatory. Also, our server took it upon himself to bring us 2 bottles of water , opened both at once, even though we did not request it. Considering the priciness of the food it was not immediately apparent that $20 of the bill went for water and we didn’t even drink the second bottle! The bill for a party of 5 , that consisted of appetizers and entrees was $387.00, with tip $420. For a BYOB this is high end . The food was good. Tasty pasta sauce, delicious mussels in wine sauce, perfectly grilled/avocado and shrimp. and stuffed artichokes that were a little too overstuffed, but tasty. The pasta varied in consistency, cavatteli was perfect, as was cacio pepe. The papperdelle was alittle too dense but over all good. Servers were very nice and accommodating. Be sure to pay in cash because there is a 3.9% fee added to you credit card purchase.

I’ve always wondered what it was like to eat at this place. Today we experienced the full experience and it was great. During our visit, Nonna, her husband, and Max greeted us, and we were blown away by the food, service, and hospitality they provided. Having freshly made pasta from Nonna made us feel like we were dining in Sicily. This is the place to go in Ridgewood if you want a fine Italian dining experience. Don’t forget..BYOB

Sad pasta . Stay away . Very disappointed with the food . It came out so fast it clearly was microwaved /premade a few days if not a week ago . Waiter and service was nice but I came here for food after a nice Equinox workout nearby. The appetizer Mushroom risotto was not creamy , lacked salt and the cheese was raw sprinkled on top which I usually don’t see. Bad risotto . I ordered their famous Cavatelli with Nonna’s meatballs and the meatballs were flavorless , dry , borderline hard . It required some wrist strength to actually break it down. Had my partner ordered the meatball , she would have required assistance cutting the meatball. The tomato sauce almost felt like out of a can . Reminded me of Chef Boyarde color , taste and sweetness from my childhoods days. They said it was plum tomatoes , which are sweet but it tasted unauthentic and processed . It remind me of grammar school pasta lunches. Seasoning was off with the food . Last time I wing it last minute at a restaurant . My partner ordered the rigatoni short rib pasta special dish . Must have been a very vertically challenged short rib because there wasn’t much of it in the dish for 35 dollars . Too bad Latour was closed down the block . This meal made me very sad . I didn’t finish it . Wish we could return our meals as easily as we return unwanted Amazon purchases . Also they charge extra for credit cards . Probably because people would call their AMEX to get their money back after a sad meal.

The first red flag was the bread coming out. It was very clearly supermarket bread and I was quite surprised to see such poor quality. Unfortunately, I ordered the Gnocchi Sorrentino. The sauce tasted like the cheapest canned tomato sauce and the actual gnocchi was flavorless and dull. I do not believe there was any seasoning in the sauce whatsoever. When the parmesan came out as well, it had no scent and no flavor. The gnocchi as a whole was the most disappointing meal I have had in a very long time. I was left sorely disappointed because this restaurant is clearly well loved, but with the meal I had, I would rather just make scrambled eggs for dinner. The dishes from other members of our party were just as bland. Our waiter was nice though. The apps were decent, which was surprising because the main course lacked just about everything. As a whole, the meal was not worth the money in the slightest. No care or attention was put in the main courses, and if there was, it did not show through.

Absolute perfection. From the rolls with white bean dip at the beginning, to the incredible gnocchi and the heavenly dessert. Service was amazing. Will definitely be back !

Incredibly happy with my choice to celebrate Valentine’s Day dinner at Pearl Restaurant. The ambience is warm and inviting and so is the staff. You feel like you are family from the time you walk in. The food is delicious and top notch caliber. The pasta is handmade in house and you can really taste the difference. I will definitely be coming back. Thank You.
