The drink selection is excellent — thoughtfully crafted cocktails that are both flavorful and refreshing, with just the right balance of creativity and approachability.
The food is equally impressive. Every dish we tried was delicious and well-executed, with fresh ingredients and thoughtful presentation. The menu has something for everyone, and the flavor combinations consistently stand out.
Service is friendly and attentive, making the overall experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. If you’re in D.C. and looking for a spot with great drinks and consistently good food, Peacock Cafe should be on your list.
We were early for the reservation, yet seated right away! We met one of the owners who circled the restaurant. Service was prompt, and our waiter answered our questions and knew the menu well!
Drinks: We ordered the hot toddy and Rosewater cocktail. Flavors on both were perfect! Absolutely amazing!
Appetizers: Steamed mussels and Dolme
Both were amazing, but my husband and I thought the Dolme were the best. I tend to prefer cold dolmades, and these were warm and I loved them. The grape leaves were so tender and the balance of flavors with a slight char on the outside, absolutely amazing.
Also, we recommend accepting the rolls they offer at the start. They were delicious! Not over done but so soft on the insides with the perfect crustiness on the outside.
Main Course: I had the steak and fries with the peppercorn sauce and the husband had the rockfish. The steak was perfectly seasoned, and the sauce was delicious! The fries were the perfect side! My husband’s rock fish was also amazing!
Dessert: We ordered the Warm Apple Tart and the Poached Pear and Pistachio Ice Cream. Both were so delicious, but if I could only choose one I’d choose the Poached Pear and Pistachio Ice Cream! The cardamom was present without being overwhelming.
The owner gave us small glasses of Sauternes during dessert. It was absolutely perfect.
To top it off, the meals (excluding alcohol) were part of the regular pre fix menu they have in the evening! The base price is $56 (with a slight upcharge for specific dishes), but between the flavors, quality, service, and ambience, you would think you were at a much pricier meal. Not only that, the portions are perfect as well
We will go back.
And thank you to everyone at Peacock Cafe for a wonderful dinner.
This restaurant also has gluten free bread so most of their sandwiches can be made gluten free upon request. And they can make their eggs benedict gluten free by using their gluten free toast.
It is a very pleasant experience dining here. I usually dine outside. They are located on a small street in Georgetown. Georgetown can be crowded but on this small street, it is never very busy. On a nice weather day, it is a pleasant experience to eat the gluten free French toast while enjoying the weather.
The service is always good too. I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant.

July 2025 update: I had the Peacock omelet today. It was great! It was a nice mix of ham, cheese, onions. They also have gluten free desserts including a cheesecake that is GF because they use ground walnuts for the shell. Definitely worth visiting if you are on a gluten free diet. It really is great food with great service. I like sitting outside on a sunny day. It’s very pleasant and not very loud. (They are on a quiet street.) It gets harder to find restaurants that are quiet enough that I can actually converse and not shout. At this restaurant, at least when I am outside, it’s quiet enough I can converse. Highly recommend!!

Aug 2025 update: I had the flourless cheesecake. It was super!! This is the ONLY restaurant I know of in the entire DC area that has a cheesecake WITH a crust that is gluten free!! HOORAY! The crust is made of walnut. All I care is it tasted great and it definitely had no wheat. (I am fairly sensitive so I would have gotten sick if it had wheat.)
I also had their corned beef hash with the gluten free bread. It’s great food and great service. Highly recommended!
Staff was attentive and very nice. Great experience.
For dessert, we chose the pear dessert, the walnut cake, and the cheesecake. They were all incredibly tasty! They prepared a special presentation for one of the desserts and kindly removed it from the check, as it was my birthday. I truly appreciated that thoughtful gesture.
The service was attentive, professional, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They also provided excellent recommendations. The decor was contemporary and charming. Highly recommended!
