Pauly Penta’s is an amazing little place, with so many options for pre-made prepared foods, packaged hot or cold, for anyone who needs a meal but doesn’t have time to cook. A staple of North Providence, and one of my favorites!

I placed a catering order for pink penne vodka, chicken parm, roasted potatoes, and grilled veggies. Everything was amazing. The delivery driver Kyle was prompt and professional. Would highly recommend.

My first time trying them today & had to wait for awhile Pauly said, hey want bread with your salad I said sure I’ll try some thank you, & then he told the kid working in the back to add bread with salad,, when I checked the bag, no bread, I was sooo disappointed, really wanted to try it with bread.. Pauly has to make sure things are getting done right

Perhaps my new favorite spot in RI for Italian Subs and Snail Salad. They do everything right. My platonic ideal of an Italian Grinder in Rhode Island. In the same ranks of “Italian Corner,” (East Providence), Dee’s (Cranston), and Natale’s (East Greenwich) as premier destinations for Italian sandwiches in this state.

Food is so fresh and delicious. The spinach pies size and portions are a bit smaller than I remember now though.

What Italian grinder doesn’t come with Provolone? This is a review of a ~$50 order for 3 (tasteless) sandwiches: it’s both a GrubHub & Pauly Penta’s issue. I’ve been here once before & the turkey sandwich was good, albeit this was over 3 years ago. However, today with GrubHub – horrendous. On GrubHub – no option in app to select a cheese on sandwiches so I added the request for cheese & the type of cheese in “additional instructions” (which was correct in the order, I got the cheese) however – in those same instructions I asked for the Italian grinders to be DRY with whatever dressing they use to be on the side – especially since I knew how big the large size would be & I wanted to save them without them getting soggy. But there were no sides of oil/vinegar or dressing in the bag. The bread had balsamic vinegar on it which would be fine normally if I ordered it to be wet. Not sure if that’s because Pauly normally doesn’t use oil or dressing but when you say you want an Italian DRY – it means dry – no liquids at ALL. Next – I asked for extra iceberg lettuce on all of the sandwiches (I ordered a turkey sandwich, which I’d eaten there before, & 2 Italians which I’d not had from Pauly before). There was NO extra lettuce. Not at all. The lettuce was minimal & was cut to the size of sliced basil (thin strips). On the Italians, the meats & cheeses were stuck together & placed in 2 or 3 short clumps on the bread – pre-rolled. It looked like these were meant for smaller sized bread or just a lack of understanding on how to make a grinder. I unraveled the stuck together ball of meats and cheese, separated them & then spread out onto the bread like a real Italian grinder would be made (or I tried to do given the chinsey cuts of meat). I basically remade the entire sandwich so that meats, cheeses were evenly distributed. The delivery came 20 mins early (not good when on a schedule – early not always good and it’s also the 2nd time this has happened with GrubHub, not on Pauly of course.) And came with spills because the balsamic vinegar had leaked out of the two sandwiches so the bottom of bag was soiled (would not have been an issue if the note I made in the GrubHub order to make them DRY was followed). On that note, the bag should have been packaged so that the sandwiches were put in horizontally & not vertically. The sandwiches were in the bag standing straight up & leaking from the bottom. (I have never seen this approach with grinders/subs). Bag them so that the sandwiches are laying flat in the bag & won’t leak (even though they should have been DRY Iike I’d specifically asked for). And lastly, the GrubHub driver should’ve looked at the order & looked in the bag to see that there were no dressings on side & he should’ve asked Pauly Penta’s about why no sides of dressing. To either put the dressings in, or to ask them for explanation if there was a reason there were no sides of dressing available. So, so bad. Just really terrible when for TASTELESS three sandwiches that I spent almost $50 on. Not good at all 🙁
