We were in town last week and, being big BBQ people, we were happy to find a BBQ option. The service was great and very friendly. The food was delicious. We both absolutely loved the dry rubbed ribs. They were cooked very tender and the flavor was great. All the sides were excellent as well. We will definitely be back.

The rib tips were delicious. Good bbq sauce and smoky flavor. Was great talking to the owners as we waited for our food. This is my second time going and they upped their game. Delicious food all around. I tried collard greens for the first time and they were amazing! Defiantly get the collards greens! The food was well packaged to stay warm on the drive home.

We went for Pat’s Sunday Dinner today and were thoroughly impressed! Ordered one with the BBQ chicken and one with the ribs, got Mac and cheese and greens for the side along with cornbread.
We don’t typically order ribs but after having the tips, we knew we had to try them. They did not disappoint! The flavors of the rub and sauce were a great combination and they are done to “fall off the bone” perfection! The BBQ chicken legs were equally delicious, and were cleaned to the bone, as well. Literally, finger licking good…
Now for the sides… The meat is worth going for on its own but wow, the sides were both equally amazing! We try Mac and cheese at most barbecue restaurants and usually have mixed reviews on them within our group, however, it was unanimous that these were towards the top of what we’ve had. Perfect mix of cheese, great baked topping, some serious flavor coming through and perfect texture. The greens blew our mind… Really, can greens be that good? Yes, they are! Now we understand why greens are so popular. You need to try these! The cornbread was equally good – perfect companion to the meal.
We talked to the owners who were very friendly and interested in customers opinions. They truly are listening to their customers and want to make it a great experience.
This is a much needed addition to the options available in Charles City. Thank you for sharing some incredible food with us. We are anxious to see what’s next!
Note – the burger picture is not from there, I’m not certain how that got included.

I picked up a little bit of everything to feed the family tonight and you did not disappoint! The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the cornbread was so delicious, the honey BBQ sauce was the favorite, closely followed by the Tangy & Sweet sauce. We’re so glad we found you!

Food is phenomenal! My favorite is the coleslaw she makes. Best I have ever had! I would buy that stuff by the gallon if they sold it separately. Great group of people. Very friendly and professional. Keep up the good work.

First the underwhelming**…although the pulled pork was good, it came on plain white bread. The menu said all orders served with fries and coleslaw and when I got our order home it had baked beans and coleslaw, ( with a small amount of hamburger added to the beans) and no fries.(menu states all orders served with fries and coleslaw so that is what I expected) We paid $35 which seemed on the high side for the 3 meals we ordered especially when they came without fries and substituted with the beans instead. Unfortunately, I had also made beans for lunch that day and wasn’t expecting or told about the substitute when I ordered so we had beans for two meals. My daughter can not eat coleslaw or a large amount of beans due to medical reasons so she was left eating only the sandwhich because of the absent of fries. (I knew she wouldn’t be eating the coleslaw when I ordered but expected fries which would have been more filling for her and not stuck with only a sandwhich) The other order was a steak burger(not much more than a hamburger) which was also served on plain white bread and nothing but barbeque sauce on it. The price was high for the amount of food we got I felt. The replacement of beans for fries and the use of plain white bread for the sandwiches fell short in my opinion of making this great. (More of a great bun would have been more impressive) I also ordered at around 7 PM on a Saturday night (closing is at 9PM) and they were out of several things including the slabs. Portion sizes were ok for each….not on the large side but not small for each item either.
The overwhelming(good!)**– the meat had good flavor and was very tender with a sweet barbeque sauce on it.The coleslaw was creamy and good…and as one of the other reviews stated, it had good flavor and is possibly one of the better coleslaws around. The people I interacted with were friendly and helpful both in the store and on the phone. The service was fast– I ordered over the phone. ( not sure that they do that much) I told them I would pick it up in 10 minutes and it was actually about 15 minutes before I actually got there and they were just finishing up bagging it when I arrived. So I was impressed with that.
Overall…For our experience the lack of fries and the use of the white bread with high price made this seem frankly overpriced and underwhelming for this experience. I also feel the stubstition was something that should have been mentioned when placing the order. I would also consider using buns at minimum for the burger– and possibly adding some options to the burger– it seemed overpriced and somewhat boring nothing that stands out for the price.
I know they are just starting out so I am sure they are still trying to figure things out a bit. It is worth trying. Keeping it going will be up to them. I plan to try them again down the road to see if my opinion changes– and if time will help gets the kinks out. I truly hope it does and that this place will be able to make a go of it in CC– we definitely need more food options and businesses here, and they seem eager to make a go of it! Which I think is great! I think the next time we will try a Sunday as Sunday’s meals here look to be a better value possibly? (as long as they stick to them menu or make people aware of substitutions–Only a few extra dollars for added sides included) I wish them the best of luck and I do hope they have a future here!!
