I wish i could give 3.5 stars, but I’m just gonna go with 4. Overall good restaurant. The side dishes are awesome. Best onion rings I’ve had in Knoxville. Greens good. Really delicious bun. Great iced tea. Generous portion of meat. The pulled pork had good flavor, but it was dry and tough so it needed a lot of sauce, and it was still cold in the middle. This tells me they probably don’t have enough customers to smoke it on site and serve it immediately, so it’s prepared ahead and reheated. This is totally fine, especially for a smaller restaurant, but since the meat is the star of the meal, they need to come up with a reheating method that doesn’t dry it out or leave it cold in spots. It’s a $16 plate. Maybe a steamer, or do the water bath method in a vacuum sealed bag? Anyhow, It was still a very delicious meal regardless so I’m giving them 4 stars. I hope they get more business soon so they will at some point be able to smoke the meat on site. I bet it’s really tasty and juicy when it’s fresh off the smoker.

The food was to be expected for a good BBQ place. No complaints honestly. The sides were homemade and the food presentation was impressive. Don’t let the outside fool you, it’s in a busy intersection with not much to offer as far as scenery goes but that’s not the restaurants fault. The inside is clean and decorated nicely. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend

This was our first time trying Patches and we were very impressed with the food and service! It’s a little mom and pop joint that’s got a cute country vibe to it on the inside.
To start off, we had the candied bacon. It melted in your mouth, it was so delicious! I saw that they had chicken livers on the menu. I love chicken livers but didn’t know if I wanted to order them or the pulled pork. The owner came over to welcome us and I asked if the chicken livers are fresh or frozen. He said they’re fresh and hand breaded. He said “how about before ordering, we cook you up a few pieces just to see if you like them.” I’ve never had anybody offer to do that before! The sampling of chicken livers convinced me to order them for my meal. They were perfectly seasoned and battered! I also ordered okra and greens.
My husband ordered the special of the day: Philly cheesesteak and French fries. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection.
We will definitely be back!

My husband and I came for lunch today. We immediately were greeted and welcomed with smiles! Everything was CLEAN and our server was so sweet and polite! Our food came out quick and was so good. We had gotten the pork sandwiches previous and wanted to try something new. I had the pork nachos and my husband had the sandwich. Both were delicious and very very filling! We absolutely will be returning again!

Great great great locally owned business owned and operated by down to earth good people that understand the folks that live around here because they are from round here.. if you haven’t tried it I definitely recommend checking them out if you live good bbq burgers giant 1/4 lb hot dogs check these good folks out you won’t be disappointed

Had the pulled pork sammich, sliced baloney and baked beans. Service was great. I loved the smoked baloney and beans best. The pulled pork was good but maybe a little dry. Prices were good and portion sizes were generous. I’ll definitely return!
*** UPDATE ****
I stopped back for my second visit last week and unfortunately the quality has gone down. The beans were dried out and sticky and the pulled pork was mushy with no flavor. Not sure I’ll return again.

NOT IMPRESSED!! We bought 3 of these sandwiches (no other side, sandwich only) for 36.00, which are way overpriced. Each sandwich was 12.00 with approximately 3-3 1/2 ounces of prime rib on each. When you took a bite, you tasted heavy pepper and bun. You got no prime rib taste cause there was just no meat. The picture makes it look like there is meat, but once you put the bun together, nope, it was mostly bun for you 12.00. There were 2 ladies who spoke with me, the new employee was polite and communicated with me. The other was short, and rude. I come from Kansas City, BBQ Capital, and this would not make it there. The search continues!!

Patches BBQ has great BBQ, sides and gourmet-level sweets all very reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The real treat is having live music often! Nuthin Fancy rocked the joint with Southern Rock and Blues when I was there. I love this place and give it my highest recommendation.
