Stopped in as we were in the area. Great casual restaurant with 3 levels! Great views. The delicious aroma hits you as you walk up the stairs! Very friendly and efficient staff (these guys are working hard carrying everything up and down stairs all shift). We got the arancini (delicious!) and built our pastas! You can’t go wrong with any of the combinations! Fresh and delicious and so comforting!

This place is my favorite restaurant! My wife and I come here for special occasions when we want our delicious Italian meals! Also I couldn’t forget the delicious home-made bread and oil for a complimentary starter!

Great place to celebrate and/or date night. Personally find the sweet and spicy alfredo pasta a little too sweet, but overall I would recommend to people who want to try something new and would not mind mild spice. Lasagna was mid, recommend their tomato cream sauce for sure. Focaccia was amazing when it’s fresh. (we asked for a fresh basket and it was so much better) Service is better last time I came, it is difficult to get served on the second floor, especially during crowded nights.

I’m sure dining upstairs is a different experience than dining downstairs, but as someone who can’t climb stairs, I was fine being downstairs.
Service was fantastic. Food was delicious and filling. Would come here just for the bread and oil offered before the food arrives.
Really lovely server; would highly recommend if you are looking for good food with great service.

I moved to the area just today and what a perfect place to have my first dinner! From Ben’s warm welcome as I stumbled up the stairs to Sid’s excellent service. I was lucky enough to get probably the best table, one at a window. The dinner was excellent, loved the fresh bread with olive oil, the herbivore dinner, and dessert with coffee. The atmosphere was eloquent yet casual, warm and comfortable. I plan on many visits to come!

Our family loves the atmosphere and food. This is our favorite Italian restaurant! The dipping sauce is phenomenal with homemade bread and we love building our own pastas they way we like! The waiters are exceptional as well!

This place has long been a favorite but I hadn’t been in a few years. Tonight, the food, every bite, was perfect from the warm bread and white wine mussels to the chicken marsala and the carbonara. Even the homemade raspberry soda was tart and delicious. The only fly in the ointment was a loud German studies student who seemed to have no situational awareness and brayed stupidly throughout our meal. Pasta e Basta: affordable, yummy…what’s not to like? If you think The Olive Garden is a good restaurant, educate your palate and try some real Italian food.

Pasta e Basta is such a cozy little restaurant in downtown Amherst. Whenever I had something to celebrate, or needed to have my spirits lifted, PeB was my first choice.
Service is always top notch, even when it is a busy night. The staff is always friendly and welcoming.
Food quality is outstanding. I’m a big fan of the alfredo in all forms. Though I had my favorites, whenever I tried something new, I was never, ever disappointed.
