Fabulous hole in the wall, kinda literally haha. Tucked away this whimsical spot has multiple dining areas including patio. They are pet friendly. Their bartenders are top notch. Jamika was a lovely bartender and host. I’ve attended multiple craft events at this spot and they’ve all been incredible, fun, affordable, and tasty!!

I was excited to visit this restaurant because my recollection of it from days past was that it was a cute and delicious French bistro. Granted it’s been at least 15, maybe 20 years since I’ve been there, but my expectations were still high given my past experience. The restaurant, unfortunately, disappoints.
While the ambience is definitely cute, there’s not much more special about it than that.
The best thing about the restaurant were the nonalcoholic drinks, which were delicious.

The appetizers were yummy, but nothing to write home about. The carrot ginger soup was good, but also nothing special. The beet salad was subpar because the beats were not cooked enough, the dressing wasn’t delicious, and the goat cheese was somehow off. Maybe it was feta cheese. I ordered the filet mignon expecting something very special. But it was pretty average at best. First of all, the waiter did not ask how I wanted it cooked. It came medium, which, is a little overcooked for me. People around me also ordered this dish and had it more rare. The mashed potatoes and the asparagus with which it arrived were fine, but nothing special. The sauce was pretty average and something I would expect to have at a local diner off a major highway.
The dessert was fine and also nothing special.
The service was friendly, and the waiters were quite nice, but not as top-notch as I would expect at this level. For example, they forgot to replenish the silverware so that when my entrée arrived, I had to ask for a fork. No big deal. But also annoying if you’re going to a fine dining establishment. Overall, I had high expectations and the food was very disappointing which is why it’s getting two stars.

Commenting on the bar only, as I haven’t been to the restaurant since it was the original for my 18th birthday… Let’s just say sometime ago.

One of my top three drinks is the Last Word, and the one our bartender made is definitely one of the best ones that I have had outside of what I make at home.

Very, very good experience. A little bit on the pricier side but overall worth going to. Beautiful outside seating, fast service, and amazingly delicious locally sourced food. You can practically taste each ingredient used in their dishes! Will be coming back for sure.

We had a great birthday dinner meal with family x6 at Paseo. The service was excellent. The food was outstanding. We ordered the charcuterie for a table appetizer. It was amazing.
Most of us ordered the scallop entree (photo attached), plus a beef burger, and a fish of the day. The bottled wine was quite expensive. Altogether, we had a lovely and memorable meal.

We had a wonderful time at Paseo last night. I must say that it is one of the best meals that I have had in Marin County. Fine dining and excellent gourmet food. We both had the seared scallops on a bed of truffle risotto. I want to mention Kevin, the General Manager and Rinah, our server, who both went above and beyond to make this a really special evening for us. The dessert was so darn good that I had to take a pic after I had taken two bites.

Update. Sadly, Sammy closed El Paseo with no set date to re-open it.
Changing my review to 4 stars.the entire staff was engaged. Food was great. I had the risotto, my wife had the black cod. Dinging one star for having the Doors for background music. Come on Sammy Hagar, how about something a little mellow and dinner appropriate??
