Reviews
The food was incredibly tasty and full of flavor — we practically inhaled it. We sat outside with our two dogs, and the staff immediately brought them water, which we really appreciated. It was wonderful to see that every outdoor table had a dog enjoying lunch with their people. Great food, welcoming atmosphere, and truly dog-friendly. We’ll definitely be back!
The small salad (with bitter endive, which I liked, others didn’t) with no choice of dressing (at least none was offered, there was just a hint of dressing already on it). “Turkey” was two marginally warm slices of a small turkey roll, an ice cream scoop of dressing, some unremarkable potatoes, and a few roasted veggies. The apple crisp was pretty good, it would have been nice if it were warmed up, but nothing else served for dinner was particularly warm either. Other members of our party didn’t think the cheesecake or squash soup was anything to write home about.
Server was delightful, and it’s a nice environment.
Total for 7 with tax, tip, and San Francisco’s Restaurant Dining Deterrent tax was near $1000. Did I mention this was a mediocre dinner for 7??
Looking back, we should have given up the view and ate at a local diner, had a large, hot meal with real carved turkey and saved about $700…or even more by reheating our own deli takeouts.
NOTE: This is not a reflection on the Beach Chalet upstairs.

A nondescript building across the street from Ocean Beach holds a great deal of intrigue within its walls. The lower level houses murals and stories of the history of the local area and a grassy, family friendly picnic area out back holds picnic tables and seating that allow for kids to play, warm conversations over frosty beverages, and a local DJ to all intermingle the sounds and joy of life in a cozy, sunny, comfortable micro clime all its own.
The upper level where the restaurant is located was completely unexpected. The array of windows that are seen outside is a key feature to the Beach Chalet. The light that flows in from the outside is outdone by the view to the beach and surf each window has.
The decor is subtle yet trendy, staff dapperly attired, and the seating spacious and comfy. The live trio of jazz musicians was a unique and pleasant touch. When they were on a brief break, the overhead speakers piped in a great selection of 80’s tunes.
The menus covered a wide, yet not overwhelming, array of surf and turf options from apps to salads and sandwiches to a full New York strip. There’s a good mix of trustworthy menu staples along with some unique twists and blends if you want to tempt the fates of culinary exploration.
I spent about $60 (including tax and ambiance) for a Cadillac marg, burger, salad, and an Irish coffee to finish the meal. All in all, a reasonable price for a new experience and a new place to add to the list of venues I like, will come back to, and be sure to bring friends and family as well!
4-6. Drinks did not taste right and flavors didn’t match ingredients listed. Food felt pretty expensive for the quality and temperature. Bummer. Kid friendly and dog friendly, hostess was our only interaction and she was very nice.
Christina you rock, just want 2 shout U out for your hospitality & her excellent customer service .
I drove all the way to San Francisco, just for Christina.

Waitress was friendly and helpful.
But the employee dressed up as Beetlejuice, wow, was she sexy! It was hard not to stare at her, very attractive young lady, full of smiles and making everyone around her happy! Well done.
I had to take 1 star off for the high prices and parking lot issues…
Service was very slow.
Oysters and clam chowder were good.
