With the AUD dollar the way that it is at the moment for two entrees, a main (which we shared ) and a bottle of French bubbles, it was $88.80 AUD.
what an absolute treat. I don’t know why it took us so long. The food and the service was delightful. I’m particularly impressed with the cheese fondue and that may become one of our new favourite snack places to go.
The creamy pork and mash dish was sooooo tasty.
Well worth checking out.
We’ll definitely be back.
Then we came for dinner when it had rained buckets all day and it was quiet!
If you want to have a lovely top class French meal (close to Michelin Star but more everyday) this is the Best!
The tapenade was bitey tasty, the baguette was warm and crisp.
The boeuf rillettes were perfectly cooked med/rare to soak up the sauces etc…my plate was clean!!
Then the chocolate lava cake OMG!
Highly recommend, and book unless you want to sit outside!
The owner is a disciple of Escoffier! Yes look it up!!
There is a clearly marked parking space in front of the restaurant, which was occupied by another guest’s car. Despite this, my car was repeatedly asked to move and was eventually directed to park far to the left in a dark area, out of sight from the restaurant. This felt unfair and unsafe, especially since the other guest was not asked to reposition their car properly, even though the space could have accommodated two cars. When I raised this concern, there was no explanation or apology from the staff.
The parking instructions themselves were confusing and inconsistent. I was first told to wait while a space was arranged, but no one followed up. After I parked in an empty spot, I was asked to move again. One staff member directed me to one location, while another insisted I park across the road in a space that clearly did not fit my car. I mentioned this, but was still told to proceed. Only after struggling—while cars and motorcycles were passing—did the staff acknowledge that the space was unsuitable and direct me elsewhere, without proper assistance or clarity.
The service inside the restaurant was also lacking. The table was not properly set—there were no cutleries or napkins when I was seated, which is unexpected for a restaurant of this level. Additionally, my starter order was served incorrectly. I ordered 12 pieces of escargot along with an onion soup, but only 6 pieces were served.
I was already disappointed with the service, so I requested the check instead of ordering a main course. What made the experience even more disappointing was that I was still charged for 12 pieces of escargot, despite only receiving 6.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience. While the food itself was fine, the lack of organization, attention to detail, and basic hospitality significantly impacted the visit—especially considering the restaurant is located very close to where I live.
Here we try. very authentic French cuisine.. Excellent food
The dessert was Bomb!
So good!
Will definitely coming back for different menus
Followed by an absolute great
main course and my profiterolles were so fresh, I very much recommend this French restaurant !
Caserolet de Lemar portion was decent but the prawn and squid didn’t taste particularly fresh. Also the tuna was kinda tough.
Chocolate fondant has a great lava center and the sweetness was just right. However the chocolate sponge was not moist and fluffy enough.
