Paris Bakery makes THE best Princess Cake and I searched high and low in Monterey to find a bakery that makes them. I ordered one for a baby shower for for a baby boy and requested it to be tinted in blue instead of the traditional pastel green. So we called it a “prince” cake! Hehe.
Traditionally it is a classic Scandinavian torte with layers of sponge cake, raspberry jam, vanilla custard, and whipped cream. It is typically covered with a layer of sweet marzipan tinted green.
They even add the extra step of using fresh raspberries on the inner layer. The marzipan “frosting” layer was super fresh and it was the perfect touch of sweetness. All the guests were asking what it was and where it was from. Will definitely be purchasing for future parties.
I also can’t omit the other wonderful pastries that this bakery offers. My favorite is the banana, Nutella croissant.

The staff here is very friendly and nice. There is a good selection of pastries here too. However everything is pretty old. They all look and taste 3-5 days old (I went Sunday morning). I’ve attached a picture of the almond crossiant I got. There are no pastry layers that you can see. The scone has the chewy consistency of a dinner roll, not the crumbly texture of a scone.

4/24/25 I just left the Seaside location in shock,1 croissant $6.50 !! I thought $4. January was a little much but fine I wanted to support small businesses still. This place used to be good , but in the last few years has gotten worse and expensive. I have received old stale pastries before. In this economy a price increase like that for one piece of bread is ridiculous. I guess I will be going to Costco and getting a pack from now on.

I love the food BUT. Ordered a Yule log for today’s the 24th. Was told
To come around 9am. Was there at 9:05. Was told to come back at 10:30 (I live 45 minutes away..). Came back at 10:30. Was told to coma back in 1 H.
Left without it. What kind of service is this?
So disappointed. Don’t order from them. They don’t even care.

Great sandwiches, designer sugar cookies, tarts, and cakes. My latte was perfect but wish they had lavender available, they use a good machine and barista I had prepared my drink well. Good customer service. Will be back.

The prices were great, the croissant delicious but a bit greasy. The small baguette was nice. The beurre et jambon should use any kind of seasoned ham, Smithfield, Serano, Iberico, but not plain ham, which offers no flavor at all. The small sourdough baguette didn’t have the texture of sour dough. We’ll try the downtown location and reserve judgment. Okay. Not great.

The location in Seaside is horrible. Old stuff (I’m pretty sure they sell there what wasn’t sold in Monterey),very limited options and a rude employee who refused to put her mask on/touched the good with her bare hands.
