Some of the best Filipino food in the bay. I loved the bicol express, the lechon, and most of all the pork adobo. I’ve had it many times many places, and this is my favorite. It is less vinegary than other places, with a thick and many layered spiced sauce that is addicting. The adobo fried rice is also a really good unique item.

Lutong Panis! First and last time for me. For $10 per Halo-Halo and $22 for Calamari you would think you would be coming home to enjoy some comfort Filipino food. The flan on the halo halo was rancid and spoiled which ruined the whole desert. When I opened the calamari I was greeted with cold and stale battered squid and for the price I was hoping for the whole to go box to be full and fresh out the fryer. I see why they wrapped it up well. I shouldn’t have to check the quality of the food in front of them to see how they prepared my food.

Overall, other than being a little bit on the smaller side of space. They offered Good customer service, it didn’t take long to get the food after ordering, but it was fresh and tasty. I like going there. Parking is not as easy as you have to park on the side street, but other than that it was a really good experience. Can’t wait to go there again!

If you haven’t been to this place yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO GIVE THEM A VISIT 😀

This restaurant is a hidden gem on the roads of 14th Street in San Leandro… and I had never heard of Parekoy’s until my boss told me ALL about how seared and marinated their Kare Kare was (which, by the way, is one of my FAVORITE Filipino dishes). It is surrounded by quite a bit of shops with empty storefronts, but with it comes lots of sarap and good luck, destined to make your taste buds JUMP into a whole new dimension.

When ordering drinks, you DEFINITELY gotta try out the guava juice — freshly squeezed and, without any doubt, fresh on the cup when you drink it. The guava juice definitely helped my taste pallet — to enjoy the FULL experience that was given not only to me but also with all my coworkers that were there too.

The Lumpia Shanghai and Chicarron Bulaklak definitely was a NEW experience for me — I thought that it honestly was fried pork fat that MELTED in my mouth, and left a very slick taste. We also ordered their ultra special dish: their Crispy Pata Kare-Kare. The sauce tasted a LITTLE nutty, but that’s what I liked about it: the thick texture sauced on top of the Kare Kare is what made it EXTRA unique and unlike any other Filipino restaurant that I’ve been to.

Best of alll, the garlic white rice was probably by far the biggest highlight of all the dishes we ordered — including the condiments that came with it too.

The hospitality of this place is top-notch — everything was cooked with love, and the owner treated us like family.

I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes in the future, but for those of you that haven’t gone here yet — this is a WONDERFUL addition to your staple places to try Filipino food in the East Bay!

Our party of five had a nice weekend lunch at Parekoy. We ordered shrimp sinigang, tocino, pork sisig, lechon kawali, and dinugan with a bowl each of steamed and garlic rice. Everything was good, but we did find the sinigang a little too salty.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was helpful as it was our first time visiting Parekoy.

Overall a nice Filipino restaurant. I will be back to check out their all-day breakfast.

I never really ate Filipino food out because we always ate mom’s cooking. It’s great to see more Filipino restaurants popping up and this little place had some delicious food. We had the kaldereta, lumpia Shanghai, pork sisig, lechon kawali, with garlic rice, and then turon and halo halo for dessert. Everything was tasty and came out piping hot. The service was super friendly and they were celebrating their 6th anniversary. Business was good with most tables occupied and we saw some people getting take out too.

The kaldereta was rich and tasty, just like I had growing up. The lechon was nice and crispy. The sisig was almost as crispy as the lechon so we may not have ordered both had I known they would be so similar in texture, but you can’t really go wrong with too much crispy pork.

Their food doesn’t taste good, especially the sisig—it’s like eating rocks. Even the kare-kare and sinigang aren’t good. Also, there’s an older man there who is grumpy; his customer service is poor and he doesn’t even smile.”

SF East Bay. I wanted to like this restaurant so much but no such luck:
* crispy binagoongan – ironic how this dish could have used more, you guessed it, bagoong
* pork sisig – I’ve definitely had my share of forgettable sisig but a bad one? Unfortunately, Parekoy you have this honor. While the flavor was there, the meat was so tough we felt like we were eating jerky
* pinakbet – the only dish we liked from our takeout, authentic tasting

Disappointing overall & no repeat visit.

I recently prepaid for five party trays for my birthday, with the expectation that they would be ready at the agreed-upon pickup time. Unfortunately, upon pickup, the order was neither prepared nor found in their system even though my payment had already been processed.

The staff cooked all five trays in ~35 minutes. However, the speed of the preparation impacted the quality of the food. The lumpia and turon in particular felt rushed and underwhelming, which was disappointing given the $400+ price tag for the order. The overall quality didn’t reflect the cost.

The only gesture offered to address the issue was a single to-go box of pork sisig. While I appreciated the effort, it didn’t quite make up for the missed expectations, the stress, and the lack of value.

Really wanted to support this local Filipino restaurant. With better order tracking, clearer communication, and more attention to food quality especially for large prepaid orders, this could have been a very different experience. Unfortunately my money was not well spent.
