visited Paradise Jerk Jamaican Restaurant for the first time today and decided to try the cornmeal porridge and an order of sweet plantain. I have to say, I was very impressed! The porridge was smooth, creamy, and full of authentic Jamaican flavor seasoned just right with the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. It had that comforting, homemade taste that instantly reminded me of traditional island cooking. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick. The portion was generous, and the food came out hot and fresh. For my first experience, it definitely left a positive impression, and I’m looking forward to going back to try more dishes on their menu.

Great service and clean atmosphere. The gentleman that served me was very kind and polite. Food is amazing and their hot sauce is well worth the two hour ride here. Parking is plentiful up front. Heavy serving of rice n peas with 1/2 curry-jerk chicken

Best Jamaican food period. Barbi Fry is the best and all the done to order meals are incredible. Great soup, homemade juices, patties. Owner is an amazing guy with a great business.

Well, i’m kinda bummed. The beef patties had no flavor and they use filo dough, which is messy messy. I hate to say it but I like the frozen patties better, now how sad is that? I was expecting Jamaican flavors, not a bland, mushy mess. I’m sure most enjoy the food here and it might be delicious, but a bad patty in a Jamaican restaurant makes a first and bad impression for me. Sorry.

I called in advance to ask about the jerk wings and how they were prepared. The gentleman told me they were prepared properly and when I went home and tasted the jerk wings, they were absolutely delicious and he was correct. They were prepared perfectly and properly. I came back to purchase wings on two or three other occasions when they were available and again they were great.
However, my last and final time purchasing wings I called ahead. I told them I would be ordering two orders of their wings, and I was on my way. When I got there, they weren’t ready and I had to wait 10-15 minutes. When they said they were ready, I asked if they were well done and he said, well let me put them back on so I waited for another 10 to 15 minutes until they were ready. When I took them home. I noticed they were not prepared at all like how they are normally prepared. They were horrible and underdone. They were all broken up and beaten, and they were dredged in a sauce that was so hot it could start a fire. The wings were poorly prepared and not the same wings that they normally serve. These wings were trash! I wanted to bring them back, but I didn’t want to deal with confrontation, so through this review, I hope the owner admits that they’re not the same wings he originally sold. I believe he normally orders the wings from somewhere else and didn’t have any available at this time and fried to make them himself. This was a failed attempt at jerk wings and he knows that. If these are the new wings they’re horrible and I wouldn’t recommend them. I don’t plan on returning to Paradise Jerk and Grill for anything else. At one point they had THE best jerk wings around, by far. Now, not even close! To their credit I enjoyed a spicy beef pattie but haven’t tasted any of their other food.

From the looks of the place I was thinking maybe I should go eat somewhere else but I gave it a try because of the good reviews but I should’ve stuck with my first thoughts. The Oxtail was over cooked some of it was kinda hard also the pieces I received in one order was horrible not much meat pluse it didn’t have much flavor at all I had to add salt and pepper to eat it. I ordered a large and a medium Oxtail it was $50.00 so at that price I thought I was gonna get a good amount of Oxtail but nope I was wrong and also the plantains were dried out and hard. I was thinking why would you feed these to people. They say the first impression is the most important and I have to say this place failed big time. Not happy at all. I’ll stick to my Jamaican food spots in Queens and Brooklyn.

I recently visited this restaurant for the first time, drawn by the many positive reviews I had seen online. From the moment I walked in, the gentleman working there was very nice and welcoming. I ordered the stewed snapper with rice and peas and was informed that it would take about 30 minutes, which I appreciated. He took great care in wrapping my meal so it wouldn’t spill, and the overall customer service was excellent.
However, I was disappointed with the quality of the meal. First, the dish was quite oily. More importantly, it lacked flavor entirely. To my surprise, the fish still had some scales on it. I understand the need to balance seasoning for a wide audience, but the meal was completely bland, to the point where even the sodium content felt extremely low. Unfortunately, when I asked for something to help enhance the flavor, they had no hot sauce, jerk sauce, BBQ sauce, pepper sauce or any condiment really —just table salt or sliced hot pepper.
I would recommend that they take the time to clean/descale and marinate the fish in advance, and not at the time an order is placed. This would improve the preparation process and the overall quality of the dish. When I spoke to the gentleman, he mentioned that I should have requested extra flavor or seasoning in advance, which I found odd. Typically, you expect a meal to be prepared with a reasonable amount of seasoning without having to make special requests.
In conclusion, the customer service was top-notch, but the snapper dish fell short.
If you’re ordering snapper here, I suggest discussing how you want it prepared in advance. Also, be mindful of the oiliness. While the experience was mixed, I hope they make improvements in the food quality to match their excellent service.
