We tried out the new Pappy Jacks in Decatur for a late lunch. The food was good “pub” grub. The menu has a great selection to choose from and the portions are very generous.
The bar offers mostly beer, with some wines and a small choice of cocktails.
The decor is fun, there’s pool tables and plenty of seating. This would be a cool place to hang out for happy hours with a large group.

Pappy jacks downtown Decatur was a wonderful experience for us. We were greeted immediately with kindness by the hostess. She allowed us to sit wherever we felt comfortable even while having our two young children with us. Other places have sat us in the back and treated us as a nuisance. Being that the Pebble Beach PGA tournament was on, we wanted to sit in view of their large TV. I requested that they change the channel and they did without complaint. (You don’t always get that response in other places). Devan was our waiter and was extremely kind, professional, and most importantly, attentive. I believe this is a representation of wonderful leadership and management. We will leave restaurants with the best food if they have poor service, this place has both great food and service. I had the cheese burger with some sauce modifications, and my wife had the Cobb salad. Both were filling, great portion size, and will definitely bring us back again. Thank you pappy jacks for a great experience, see yall soon!

Chicken fried chicken and sides were perfect! Loved the chicken tender basket! My friend said best she’s ever eaten and I would have to agree. Tuesday they have a chicken tender special that is crazy good. The chicken quesadillas were packed full and yummy! The burger and fries amazing. Trying to remember everything we’ve tried! Service has been so much better since the first time, mainly because it was Christmas parade night, new staff etc. I would say 4.5 easily but mainly because staff shortage can make service hit or miss. Can’t wait to go back to try the phili cheese steak and the grilled chicken salad.

So I visited this place today Feb 1, 2026. I ordered chips and queso for the appetizer, and I was not that impressed. Though my CFS dinner was excellent and I enjoyed every bit of it. Our waitress Addison was on top of her game. We did not have to ask for anything. She was one of sweetest people I’ve had wait on me. With her attitude she will go along way in the service industry.

We came in on New Year’s Eve and we were pleasantly greeted by Kirsten. She promptly brought us water and took our appetizer order. After that she checked on us every time she walked past the table! She was caring and smiling always. She offered advice when we had questions about the menu and never let our drinks run empty. This was our first visit and we will be back! The food was decent, but not the best. The Texas club sandwich had three slices of meat and hardly any bacon. Not sure what was up with the cooks that day? We had heard from many people that the food was fantastic. Our food was mediocre but the service was extraordinary. Because of the extraordinary service we will definitely give it a second try.

Definitely will be back. The food was great, staff nice our server just needs a little more experience. I wouldn’t recommend going if you’re in a rush. Overall a positive experience but we were starting to wonder if we would ever get our appetizer, then the same with our food. Once we did though it was hot, and fresh and delicious. Just took about 4x longer than we would have expected it. Our server was kind though and it did seem as though she was trying, honestly if I could nicely tell her anything it would be to take one table ticket at a time instead of taking 3-4 tables and dropping everything off together. Keep the flow going.

We are Decatur locals and we recently started coming to Pappy Jack’s after it changed from Fuzzy’s. It’s a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, but also where adults can have a good time playing pool and watching their favorite sporting event on one of the many TVs around the restaurant.
The food is yummy, depending on what you get, but pretty standard bar & grill food; it comes out within about 5-10 minutes of ordering, which is pretty quick in my book, especially when you customize your order or have a larger group!
The servers and hosts are attentive and thoughtful, constantly making sure you don’t need refills or more napkins. We wanted to call out our waiter, Devan – such a kind young man with a great attitude, smile, and attention to detail. He made our experience, especially with young children, very enjoyable and we would love to have him wait on us every time we are here!
The prices are fair, but I would suggest that having more drinks specials (bottomless mimosas, beer buckets, $2 off wells, etc) on Saturdays/weekends would attract more loyal customers.
Overall, we really enjoy Pappy Jacks and appreciate their service, atmosphere, and easy access to watching our favorite sporting events.

French fries were great. I ordered the mushroom burger that was supposed to be on sourdough bread. It came on a potato type bun. I wasn’t made aware of the change. I feel like if they were out they should have said so up front. I also wanted the onion rings and they were out. Overall the burger was decent but not what I expected. The server was very attentive but it was very slow and we were his only table. I would like to try this place again. Hopefully it will be better next time.
