This review is tough so I’m going stick to just facts not feelings and opinions.

The food is great. If I never had to step in and see the restaurant I would give 5 stars across the board. The food is delicious!

The service was not good, it took about 45 minutes to get food and there were only ~8 other people in the restaurant.

Hygiene is lacking. The kitchen is open to everyone to see. Unfortunately, the cooks don’t use this feature to their advantage. Instead they show how they don’t use gloves and touch raw meat with their hands. When I ordered, the cook put two burgers on the grill to cook and then came over to take my order. He took my card to pay for my order and didn’t wash his hands before or after any of this. After paying I immediately took out purell to clean my hands and my card.

The place is dirty inside. While the pictures on the wall of Greece are nice, they are stained badly.

Meh. My extended family loves this place, but I honestly don’t see the appeal. The overall cleanliness was a big turnoff and appetite killer. I ordered the chicken “kabob” with spinach rice and a salad. The so-called kabob wasn’t actually a kabob—just a couple pieces of chicken tender arranged to resemble one. The flavor was decent, but the condition of the restaurant overshadowed the meal.

For the prices they charge, it was also disappointing to be served on plastic plates with plastic utensils. But looking at how dirty the place is, perhaps disposable wares is a good thing. There’s a Taziki’s down the street that’s far better in my opinion—cleaner, better flavor overall and they serve the food on real plates with proper silverware. I doubt I’ll ever go back to this place.

Great family owned business. Food is incredible! One of my top three favorite restaurants in Birmingham. Doesn’t matter what you order it’s gonna be good. Highly recommend.

Mr. Pappas is a long time friend of my Father. He wanted a hotdog for lunch after a Doctor visit. I wanted Chicken Salad but they were out (meaning it goes fast when available) So I got the Cheese Burger instead and was happy I did. It was delicious and pretty big honestly. Beef was over the edges of bun. I got chips Dad got Fries that came in a second basket. That’s like 2 potatoes worth maybe. If ya need a good place on 31 in Vestavia this 1. Tell em JG says Hello. We will be back.

Nice little diner with solid Greek cuisine. Yes, they are living in the States long enough to have adjusted the style and flavors, but the Spanokopita was the best (commercially available) that I ever had in Birmingham.
The entrees come with one side, a Greek salad, and a roll making it a bit more food than a sensible person that is not doing manual labor should eat.

The Greek salad did not resemble any horiatiki I ever had in Greece and the Greek potatoes came in a sauce, which was a disappointment since I clearly remember this vegetarian default dish to be crisp, citrussy, and herbal. Still a good, affordable meal but I cannot give more than 4 stars since everything came on disposable plates.

Inside is gross…food splattered on walls… chair upholstery all split…had a gyro – it was delicious. Can’t comment on service as I was first in by chance…

Came here on a weekday for dinner, party of 2. In a word: Unimpressive. I got a souvlaki entree, she got a mousakka which is supposed to an authentic, real-deal Greek dish. It was lackluster; our salads looked drenched & old, the feta cheese was poor quality. The chicken soulvaki itself was cooked fine, as was the rice & spinach side. This isn’t a place to bring a first date to, the decor is dated, feels dingy & the condition of their restroom was atrocious. Will not be coming back here again. The longtime Birmingham resident who ate with me observed: ‘the condition of this restaurant is a sign of the general decline in Greek communities here in this area.”
