Calamari (not shown) – Excellent as always with a very light breading and great dipping sauces .
Bread and butter (not shown) The bread is usually very good here as was the case tonight. I’m not sure where they source it from but it is always crispy and warm and chewy, which is all the things that you love about a good French bread.
Salmon Alexander – So the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is not because of the flavors, staff or experience, as they were all top notch, which is usual for Pappadeaux’s, I only gave 4 stars for the food due to the presentation. Mind you, the food came out a lot faster than I expected, which shows that the kitchen was working very quickly, which is a good thing, but the presentation was a bit sloppy (I even tried to “Clean up” the plate before taking photos) as you can still see the rice was kind of spooned on the plate, the shrimp, crawfish, and scallops were just kind of thrown on top, and the garnish was kind of off to the side, and even the fork holding the lemon was in the sauce. I know it sounds like I’m being overly critical, but if just a few seconds of attention was given to the plating, this would’ve been a full or five stars.
Crème Brûlée – even though I was stuffed, for some reason this sounded so good to me and it was an excellent way to finish an excellent meal. It was not overly sweet, but quite refreshing due to the medley of berries that it was served with. I don’t know if I’ve ever tasted fresher, berries, but that touch sent this desert to the next level. Even though it’s a simple thing, because it was done so right, it made it something great.
My server Audrey (Rec 192) made my experience an excellent one, as she was very attentive and not overbearing, and made me feel very welcome and cared for.
Highly recommend this location.
Wife ordered the lunch Fried Shrimp with fries. She got 12+ shrimp, and a plate full of fries. It came with tarter, cocktail sauce and catchup.
I ordered lunch Mississippi Catfish and Shrimp Etouffee with dirty rice. The Etouffee came with 6 shrimp. I mixed the sauce into the rice. The Blackened Catfish was a large fillet and spiced to perfection. It was too much food, so I shared half the catfish with my wife, and we carried out her fries.
All of the food was perfect. The fried shrimp was lightly coated, the fries were hot, and it may have been the best etouffee I have ever had.
The waiter was on top of things the entire meal, filling our glasses at half empty, and offered to go cups as he brought the bill. We will certainly return
The only thing I didn’t love was the menu. It doesn’t have pictures, and the descriptions are pretty long and complex. A lot of the dishes sound very similar on paper, so it’s a bit hard to tell what really sets each one apart. It made choosing more difficult than it needed to be, especially if you’re not already familiar with the cuisine. Aside from that, though, I enjoyed the meal and would definitely go back.
Fish is fresh and well cooked. Anything seafood they serve will not disappoint.
Usually the portions are enough for a to go box.
