They didn’t have any appetizers on the menu so we decided to get the Crawfish cheese bread as a side item first. It was tasty but it wasn’t really hot enough.
We got the Orleans pasta and gumbo as our entree. Both dishes were amazing extremely tasty, well seasoned, and served hot. We even found out if we can find the two sauces together it was an amazing mix. The owner just might make a new dish out of that.
The interior was a classic black and white with just enough colored decor to make it charming. The music was awesome and thoroughly enjoyable. It wasn’t too loud at all.
We decided to get bread pudding for dessert. It was extremely well seasoned and homemade. Took banana cheesecake in a jar home for a lighter treat.
We enjoyed our visit and will return in the future. We highly recommend that you try this restaurant. It closes at 8:00 p.m. no reservations needed.
The shrimp po-boy was loaded with shrimp. Bread was fresh and chewy. Absolutely perfect texture. Sauce was creamy and the flavor was outstanding.
The seafood mac & cheese was so well flavored. Just a hint of spice on the back end. The cheese was creamy with an excellent stretch but not overwhelming. The seafood was a nice touch.
The gumbo, well I can see why it was famous. The spice was a blend of pure goodness. Warm, savory, the ultimate comfort food.
The restaurant owner was so kindhearted and went above and beyond to take care of us. The decor was modern and artsy.
We will definitely be back when in town again.
The beignets were amazing!
My parents and I ate at Papion’s in the middle of the afternoon during the week. Immediately I could tell they were short staffed, but they were kind, friendly, composed, and still took the time to provide excellent service that was definitely steps above casual dining. The atmosphere was very clean, with light ambient music setting the scene for a relaxing meal with friends or family. It was nice to be able to hear what my family was saying and not have to yell over the music.
My mom ordered the gumbo, my dad the catfish and shrimp basket, and I ordered the Monday special: a delicious burger mixed with andouille sausage and a fantastic house made sauce. We ended up sharing all the dishes, because they were all so good we couldn’t keep them to ourselves! The gumbo, the best I can ever remember eating, was a touch spicy, and bursting with delicious flavor. The catfish and shrimp had a unique batter that was crispy, yet they were perfectly cooked and maybe the best catfish we’ve ever had. My burger was the most unique burger I’ve ever eaten, in the best way! The flavors were absolutely amazing, and the brioche bun was fresh and perfectly browned. We finished it off with a bread pudding that was just perfect.
We would recommend this restaurant to anyone local or passing through. We’ll definitely be back!
