Good food if they were easier on the griddle with the butter/greese. Service is pretty solid. Good size portions. Always have to ask for napkins. Limited hours so never had late lunch or dinner. Closed several days of the week as well so short hours during open days so hard to get a good take on anything. There is one solid long term server that is awesome however. My only complaint is a locals talking extensively of religion very loudly and speaking nasty of “native americans” which she was not so polite to call them….I would have said something but I’m a semi-regular and didn’t want any issues. (* Btw, I’m Caucasian, not American Indian but found the conversation very inappropriate) Didn’t want to be a “Karen”. Overall if the old, religious, racist, zealots had not been there, it would have been much better.

Dated but IMO they have the best biscuits and gravy in Rhinelander. Staff is attentive and friendly. I have never been in when the place was packed. The music is not blaring so you can have a conversation.

I got the whole hog and it was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is very welcoming the waitresses are wonderful, they just make the whole experience perfect. It’s like eating with family, papillons is the definition of a family restaurant.

We stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat. And quick it was!! We both had the country fried steak and eggs. It came so fast and was not only piping hot, but delicious!! We’ve always gone some place else, but I’m so happy we didn’t today, because we never would have known what a little gem this place is!!

Food took a long time considering it was breakfast, the place was busy though. Crispy hash browns weren’t crispy, coffee was expensive. That said, the country fried steak was excellent, as was the sausage gravy. My Sunny side up eggs were a tad cold but perfectly cooked. Service was ok, friendly and the kept my overpriced cup of coffee full. I will go back again.

Their skillets are awesome. Great people work here and have worked here for a long time. They’ve been through the worst of the pandemic and have been able to manage to keep themselves pushing forward. Great job by these people. It’s a great place to get your morning breakfast. Be prepared to wait if you come during rush times. That’s just the flow of the Northwoods these days.

The only place open at the time, so I decided to try it. It wasn’t too bad considering it was very busy. The back room was a little scary and dark, but the food was better than the environment. I liked the papillon breakfast sandwich, but the French toast was huge. I recommend it if you’re in a rush and have a budget.

Things did not feel clean. Not fond of walking through food prep area to reach restrooms. Food was okay, nothing to write home about. Hubby’s pancakes were tough/thick skinned.
