Paper Rice is one place I recommend you start with when walking into Rodeo 72. I treated this place as my appetizer meal before going to other spots. Cool idea to customize your own spring roll but would like it if they had a list or a recommended pairing to help with your decision. Otherwise I think I did good choosing and was satisfied with the food.

I was excited to try this place since it had the longest queue but my experience fell short of my expectations. For people who haven’t tried this type of Vietnamese food, specifically the rolls, then they might think what they’re getting is a fresh product but actually the food isn’t so fresh as the ingredients are prepped and prepared fast food style which you can taste the difference when compared to rolls made elsewhere (i.e. at an actual Vietnamese restaurant). I tried the typical nem nuong cuon rolls but forgot to ask for the right sauce and the folks behind the counter didn’t think to remind me and they even charge for extra sauces. I also tried the shrimp, pork belly, and beef. The shrimp reminds me of the kind you can get at a wholesale food store and is unlike the kind that are thinly prepared in traditional shrimp rolls. The beef and pork belly were unsettling because they are cold and as a matter of fact most of the ingredients are cold. I certainly did not like the roles but I might come back to try the bahn mi sandwiches. Overall I do not recommend this place for the rolls and recommend that you stand in line for something else unless you are really craving a hastily wrapped Vietnamese roll with cold meat have low expectations.

Excellent quality, fast service, great customer service. I don’t know if I dare say it but these rolls are better than Broadards . Banh mi was delicious also. So happy to have them in Whittier, can’t wait to go back .

After trying spring rolls at Paper Rice, I am officially obsessed! I had the pork belly spring rolls, house mix and peanut sauce and it was absolutely delicious! This is my new summer meal, and I also had their viet drip coffee which was great, but just a tad too sweet. Their staff is kind and attentive. I’ll keep coming back!

I’m so happy that Paper Rice opened their second location closer to home! (Although not really because Whittier is nowhere near a freeway and taking local streets is the same duration as going to Pasadena ) But at least I won’t have to pay for parking anymore!
They’re located inside the new Rodeo 72 close to the front door (start of second row of stalls). They’re like a Chipotle of spring roll making where you get yo choose your own ingredients to make the spring rolls that you like. They have various ingredients like pork belly, nem, garlic shrimp, etc. and I’ve always been absolutely obsessed with Paper Rice sicne they opened in Pasadena. They are the only store that has made it very similar to how I make at home and their sauce is delicious.
The spring roll options comes with 3 rolls at $13.50 and my usual order is two garlic shrimps and a nem roll with their savory peanut sauce. The flavors is still amazing and consistent with what’s served at their Pasadena location. Just a little sad that their peanut sauce was sold out so I opted for their fish sauce option (labeled as “traditional citrus”) which is just as delicious with a slight spicy kick.
Overall, delicious, delicious, delicious! You will see me back soon Paper Rice!

Food for a decent. Nothing extraordinary. Portions are very small for $15 each. Good for one try, but many better options available.
