The seven pepper dry rub on Papas wings is no joke! Not for the faint of heart, but perfect for me Spicy hot and flavorful, crispy.

UPDATE: It’s been 4 years since I last reviewed Papa’s bar but I have to say they are still the BEST Monmouth has to offer! Everytime I leave there, I leave rubbing my overstuffed belly and completely satisfied! I went there with my friend Viv for Veterans Day- Papas offers our veterans a free meal on Veterans Day! So Viv and I cozied up to the table and the waitress (Heather’s sister) and hands me the best tasting Brisket I’ve ever tasted! With or without BBQ sauce it was delicious! Whatever they do in that kitchen is magical! I’ve been there many times and ALWAYS, ALWAYS leave a happy customer!
But yesterday (Veterans Day 2025) I won the drawing for the cool Papas tumbler and $50 gift card from Save A Lot (Monmouth Il) and Lair’s Collision Center (in Monmouth as well) Both these local business’s rock! I’ve used both places and super happy with the level of service they provided! But wait- there’s more! The $50 is going to a family affected by the government shutdown who’s food $$ was interrupted by it! God DOES work in funny ways!!

I came in randomly on a trip from the Chicago suburbs. Glad I did. The barbecue is fantastic! Try the brisket. Excellent sweet BBQ sauce as well. Friendly service.

Great service very friendly servers and host! Unfortunately the food was leftover from the weekend and was obviously heated up, very greasy soggy. I had pulled pork and brisket. We were in town for a college football game and we’re looking for a place to eat that was not fast food . My mom had ribs that were obviously heated up from the weekend and my wife had a pork tenderloin sandwich that was very dry with a bun straight from Walmart brand. The inside of the restaurant was clean and nice the outside looked shady and and we almost didn’t go inside. Lots of clutter around the building and looked a little ghetto.
