Papa Murphy’s in Ankeny has turned pizza pickup into an art form.
I order ahead, walk in, say hello, grab the pizza, and am back out the door with the efficiency of a man on a sacred mission. Then I take it home, bake it, and every time the result is delicious. They do a great job assembling the pizzas, which matters, because “some assembly required” can be either a promise or a threat. Here, it is a promise.
A brief poem for the occasion:
I came, I paid, I claimed my pie,
They built it well — no need to sigh.
Assembled with care, both sturdy and neat,
A dough-born masterpiece, ready to eat.
Then home I drove as evening fell,
To fulfill the ancient rite, and do it well:
The take ’n’ bake, that sacred art —
From oven emerged a work of heart.
This location is consistently excellent. Easy pickup, friendly service, well-made pizzas, and delicious results every time. Five stars.

Christine the manager is amazing, she is so friendly and the pizzas were prepped with perfection thank you! We ordered the Murphys combo and the Chicken Garlic, I added mixed onions to it.

We ordered two gluten free with dairy free cheese pizzas. The pizzas have hardly any choose on them at all! At $25 each they shouldn’t be skimping. And then to add insult to injury the store refused to take our $50 bill on the $49.80 order! I get being hesitant with large bills but that was ridiculous. AND there was no warning on the app about means of payment. Verifying large bills is super easy so there’s no excuse for refusing to take legal tender. We are not likely to be going back here.

FANTASTIC! Anyone that has read my reviews know that I can be harsh at times. I know it is hard to get here with road construction but there are ways around it. Most people find their way there (DANG IT, it means you may have to wait a bit on weekends) I’LL WAIT! I do wish I still got texts from Papa Murphys, I love this place!

I have been a loyal customer since day one, love their pizza. But the last last one was very disappointing, had about half the amount of normal toppings . I could tell when they put it on the counter and definitely when I picked it up , felt extremely light. I was always impressed with the amount of toppings previously. If employees are told to cut back on toppings to save money, I would strongly suggest that you change your ways, you will lose loyal customers like myself.

Went in last weekend for the Ia/Ia State game. They were busy but didn’t take long at all to get my order. A young man with dark curly hair was very personable and said I should try cheese bread along with my pizza. It was very good along with my pizza! I will definitely come back in and see what he suggests next time!

We ordered gluten free non dairy pizza (allergy’s suck) for $49.80 and they wouldn’t take a $50 bill for payment.
They were downright rude about it and offered bo solutions. Like many we live on a cash basis and I’ve never run into a place that won’t actually accept payment!
Top this off with the fact that both pizzas have at best a half serving of cheese on them!
