Customer Service Complaint Regarding a Papa John’s Location

Customer Dissatisfaction and Decision to Cease Patronage
• Manitowoc Papa John’s – the least welcoming restaurant in town.
• Nice job singling oh I don’t know HUMANS that support you and assist in paying your wage.
• Today is the last day I will buy any food from you.
• It is also the last day I pick up an order for delivery.

Delivery Driver’s Experience and Policy Concerns
• I have over 3,000 deliveries under my belt (not mention my 34 years in the restaurant industry) and your facility is the ONLY one I refuse to pick up from.
• The note on the door saying NO BAG NO DASH.
• I have so many questions – and how will you handle it when a Dasher comes to pick up for YOUR customer?
• Will you hand each Dasher a pizza bag provided to you free of charge from DDash?
• If so, no need for the cruel sign right?
• I suggest Papa John’s discontinue using dashers for overflow assistance. Or at least try kindness.

I placed about a dozen orders in the last year. The pizza was just ok. Nothing great….. Until today at 12:30. That was the best pizza I’ve ever had from Papa John’s. I ordered it well done and it was perfect. The toppings were nice and neatly spread out. Excellent job!

The lady working tonight 2/18/26 was working solo and doing a great job to get all the orders completed in a timely manner while answering phone calls. I appreciate her efforts and can tell she was working hard. The pizza was ok.

I placed a large order and difficult to connect with manager to place order – even went at time requested twice and they were not there- was told that my pizza. Oils be taken in DoorDash bags and I would bring back the next morning and when I did pick up two staff members were great but one with long black hair kept complaining in the background – very in process – garlic knots seemed overdone as well as a few of the pizza – was so disappointing and yea I had the bags back right after they opened the next day

The staff works together EXCELLENT with the guidance of MARISSA she clearly knows the product. She was friendly, knowledgeable of the product and the work flow. I witnessed her filling to go orders. Taking walk ins orders, all the while she was SURE TO GREET each person that walked through the door (it was very busy around 7 pm),
WHILE she was training a new hire to make menu items. AND AT THE SAME TIME she took time FOR EACH CUSTOMER to explain the 3 day point system for rewards on each receipt.

As well as COMMUNICATING IN A FRIENDLY MANNER WITH HER CO WORKERS!! As a matter of fact during this rush they were having she didn’t hesitate to ask her coworker if he enjoyed his 2 days off.

I WAS THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED!!!
DID I MENTION :

MARISSA CAN SPIN A MEAN PIZZA DOUGH LIKE NOBODYS BUSNESS!!!
This girl would be an assett to any business. WAY TO GO MARISSA
GIVE HER A DAMN RAISE!!!!!!

I don’t write this as a complaint, but a hope that management sees this and makes an adjustment as I do believe this does/will affect your business. This message is about how out of control tipping culture is. A sit-down place; for sure delivery service; even for curbside – all very worthy extras I am incredibly happy to leave a nice tip. For going through the drive through – for sitting there for over five minutes before being acknowledged – for sometimes having to go inside because the drive through is “broken.” Tipping extra for this? For what am I tipping? We tried to use the app, but it wouldn’t let us not leave a tip. It wouldn’t accept $0 dollars for the tip. Again, we had selected pick up, not delivery. So, we figured out how to use the website, this didn’t make you leave a tip, but when I came through the drive through (after being ignored for over 5 minutes after employees looked directly at me) – I was handed a slip of paper to sign asking what I wanted to leave for a tip.

In all seriousness – what am I tipping for? Why would I have gone out in the cold, drove there myself, sit in drive through for so long and then be expected to still leave a tip? I would have been better off to have delivery and then have left the same tip. It felt incredibly awkward when handed that asking for the tip. I could sense an attitude shift when I clearly wrote $0 on it. Again, what am I tipping for? I completely understand having to wait in drive through. I get you are understaffed at times. I have no problems even being asked to come in because the sign says the drive through is “broken.” I am happy taking these extra steps with the understanding to save a bit of extra money in this tough economy. Who would go through the extra steps to get their own pizza, pay the same price, and then leave the same tip as if someone delivered it to the house and I never had to go out in the cold? There are plenty of pizza places in town that do not ask for you to leave a tip so awkwardly for pizza that you pick up yourself. I will not be back to this Papa Johns.

Beyond Disappointed! We just ordered for the second time after waiting 5 months to try one more time after a terrible experience. Well experience number two was equally as bad. I ordered a small Italian pizza. There was next to no toppings on it.. One slice had absolutely nothing on it. The pizza was 17.99 I also ordered a side of wings. There was 6 tiny and I do mean tiny wings with very little sauce. 10.99 for those. After tip and tax it was $38.44 for next to nothing.. After this experience we won’t be back!! Do better Papa Johns or you won’t be around long once again! We use to love Papa Johns the first time they were here. This time it is TERRIBLE!!

I’m so excited that Manitowoc got Papa Johns Pizza back! The employees are always working hard, fast, and clean in the building. The delivery drivers are always friendly, polite, and fast, which is a plus, especially on the weekends. I would recommend Papa John’s to everyone.

We attempted to order using the first Tuesday of the month, you get a large 1 topping pizza for 6.99. They refused to honor the coupon. We were loyal customers, but we won’t be back now.
