Papa Gallo’s has been in Celina forever and there’s a good reason it’s still here. This place is a staple. The food is solid every single time we go. You know what you’re getting and it never disappoints.
The drinks are great too. Whether it’s a margarita after a long week or something casual on a weeknight, they always deliver. But honestly the staff is what keeps us coming back. They’re friendly, they remember you, and they make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time in.
You know a restaurant is legit when the local city staff and Celina PD are eating there on the regular. If the people who know this town best keep showing up… that tells you everything you need to know. Fair warning though… if you have a warrant, maybe hit the drive-thru somewhere else.
Celina has grown a ton over the last several years and a lot of restaurants have come and gone. Papa Gallo’s is still standing and still one of our go-to spots. If you’re new to the area and looking for solid Mexican food with great service, this is the place. A Celina original.

This is a lovely restaurant, and you can really see the authenticity of their Mexican cuisine in every dish. The manager was very thoughtful and double‑checked our meat preferences when he wasn’t sure, which we truly appreciated.
We visited as a group of 12, and while a couple of items weren’t quite up to the mark, it was nothing major—completely understandable, as things can happen in a busy kitchen. The drinks, however, were absolutely fantastic.
One thing we really liked was that, despite being a large group, they didn’t add any automatic surcharge like many other restaurants do.
The only downside we experienced was that most of us weren’t very familiar with Mexican cuisine, and the server seemed to rush us while ordering. It made us feel a bit pressured, especially since we weren’t fully sure what we were choosing. We initially thought we might have arrived late, but we were there at 8 PM and the restaurant closes at 10 PM. Still, the server was sweet—just a bit hurried. Because of that, we didn’t tip as much as we normally would.
We’re not reducing any stars, though. We love the small‑town vibe, and it wouldn’t feel right to lower the rating when the food itself was genuinely good. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but not unreasonable.
Overall, it’s a great place to visit and definitely a must‑try if you’re in the Celina area

We were looking for somewhere to eat. This place wasn’t our original place. We were walking down the sidewalk and happened upon it. We decided to go inside. We decided to stay and eat. We were seated after waiting for a few minutes. Ordered our food. The server was great. Told us her favorite and that is what one of us ordered. Food n service was good. Would eat here again. Table was a little wobbly. Other than that things were good.

Words cannot describe how fast and amazing the service was. I took my family of 7 and they immediately put tables together and placed chips (which were amazingly delicious) and salsa (also delicious) on the table before I could take my sunglasses off! The food is a whole other story! Hands down the most well prepared and well seasoned food! We will be returning and doing take out!

A Tex-Mex Gem in Celina – Papa Gallo’s Is a Must-Try!

If you’re anywhere near Celina, Texas and you’re craving bold, authentic Tex-Mex flavors with a side of small-town charm, look no further than Papa Gallo’s Mexican Grill. This place doesn’t just serve food – it serves experiences.

Let’s start with the blue margaritas. These aren’t your average margaritas. They’re electric-blue, ice-cold, and dangerously smooth. Equal parts refreshing and potent, they strike the perfect balance between tart and sweet – the kind of drink you dream about on a hot Texas afternoon. One sip and you’re on vacation.

Now, onto the stacked enchiladas – a dish that deserves its own spotlight. Layers upon layers of tender tortillas, smothered in savory sauce and melted cheese, each bite better than the last. Whether you go with beef, chicken, or cheese, they’re loaded with flavor and soul. Pure comfort food elevated to greatness.

The queso? Out of this world. Silky, rich, and just the right amount of spice. Add some fresh jalapeños or chorizo if you like to kick it up a notch – either way, you’ll be scraping the bowl clean with their warm chips.

And don’t sleep on the fajitas. Served sizzling (literally – get your camera ready), the aroma alone will turn heads. Juicy strips of steak or chicken paired with grilled onions and peppers, plus fresh tortillas and all the fixings. It’s a build-your-own masterpiece that never disappoints.

The service is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed but festive, and there’s a clear pride in everything they bring to the table.

Bottom line: Papa Gallo’s isn’t just a place to eat – it’s a place to celebrate. Great food, great drinks, and great vibes. Come for the enchiladas, stay for the blue margaritas, and leave already planning your next visit.

The first time here and food was great. The service was great. We shared an order of brisket tacos. Which was so yummy. Chips & hot sauce tasted just as yummy. Blue margarita was the best. I’ll be back for sure.

Wow… the food and service were great. I recently visited here for the first time last week and went back again today. It’s really really good. My wife had the Mexican pizza and I had enchiladas. My food was very good but I must recommend that Mexican Pizza with chorizo. Do it!

It’s a struggle to be vegetarian in the town of Celina. This restaurant was better than some but still extremely slim pickings. Two options on the dinner menu for people who don’t eat meat—cheese quesadilla and avocado tacos.

I went with the latter. Tacos tasted OK. The sautéed vegetables on the side were not good. Oil and an odd frozen squash blend. An afterthought.

I don’t have much else to say. I wish this business well, and if they one day decide to meaningfully cater to vegetarians I will give it another try.

Ordered beef fajita street tacos and they were not good at all and was some kind of cubed meat that tasted nothing like beef and had a weird smell. Was absolutely nothing like their photos of what previous customers were served. I couldn’t even eat it and neother could my daughter!!!!
