A fantastic local spot! We stayed at the nearby campground during the off-season and visited several times. We loved the good music, friendly interactions with Sam the bartender, and the delicious food—particularly the chicken fingers and fish bites. The outdoor area is wonderful, featuring a beach, TVs, occasional live entertainment, and plenty of seating. The staff was warm and welcoming to both people and dogs. Highly recommend!

I have been here twice now! First time the food was excellent!! Even more amazing the second time! The lovely bartender (I always forget names), she was not only an excellent bartender but her personality was spot on:) At the end of our dinner, she came over to give us our check and said they were playing this game! She came back with dice and said if we rolled a “6”, our meal was free! We rolled a 6. Dinner was free! Just super cool. You guys have our business for certain! Wish I could give more stars. Oh! We drive 45 min away for this place!!!

We found this little gem by accident looking for a beach out of season. The ladies working were absolutely delightful. We asked for a few specific items (my mom can be picky about her cocktails) and they were happy to oblige. The food came fast and was delicious. The cheese curds were heavenly and the fish nuggets were so light and tender! The smashed meatball sandwich was to die for. Will come here again in a heartbeat!

Out of our 3 days at the lake and a different place each night for dinner, this place was a 10/10…we got cheese bites, and jalapeño mac n cheese bites, they were phenomenal…not greasy and the cheese was perfect…I got the smash burger and fries, also delicious, I’m a French fry snob lol these were the best fries, great taste and flaky, again all 3 things were 10/10

Cool bar on the lake. We sat outside because the weather was awesome, and they had a DJ out there playing music that night. It was nice to enjoy the water, watch the boats coming in and out, and have a few drinks. The drinks were good and the food was good. Service was pretty slow though. Overall it is a good place, and I imagine everyone has an off night once in a while, so I wouldn’t judge the service fully based on one visit.

Papa Chubby’s is our favorite place to go when at the lake. Sam’s hospitality is unmatched! When sitting at the bar you never have an empty drink. The food is top notch, especially their specialty fish bites.

Food was AMAZING! I just got the simplest option, the chicken strip basket. And they were DELICIOUS and HUGE! The basket came with three stripes but the size made up for the number of strips given! I RECOMMEND THEIR CREAMY GARLIC SAUCE!!! It was sooo GOOD! The pizza was also really tasty, it was warm and cheesy.
We were going to eat outside at first but it was a bit too hot. But the atmosphere of the outdoor dining area was fantastic. Indoor dining is great as well!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Papa Chubbies!! We have been searching for a GREAT pizza and finally found one! It is indescribable, you have to try it for yourself! We love the atmosphere and being from Cedar Co Iowa seeing those license plates on the wall as well as all the other antiques makes for such a great, home like atmosphere. Papa Chubbies is right along the water, mm 26. If you haven’t been I HIGHLY recommend giving them a try! Keep in mind they are seasonal so check their website for their opening and closing dates.

Their pizza is some of the best on the lake! They load up on the toppings! Their fish bites and french fries I highly recommend!
Their chicken tenders are blah. But the other stuff made up for it! The beach is perfect if you have kids! They had a great band – only complaint was the music was too loud (I know, I’m old!) You could also sit inside in the A/C to avoid it being too loud also. Great place! Will be a regular in our rotation now!
