This place is always so good. The food is excellent no matter what you get from there. The service is always exceptional. The atmosphere is somewhere I would feel comfortable bringing my family to. If you want good bbq and friendly service I definitely recommend going to Papa Bucks!

Very unfriendly young girl working the counter. She was texting on her apple watch as I was giving her my order, no eye contact. The brisket was ok, but not for the price. Mac and cheese no flavor and a baked potato with barely any butter or sour cream. Just an unwelcoming visit in my opinion. I’m currently traveling and like to try different spots. I wouldn’t revisit her personally. One good thing is that the food did come out pretty quick. 2/10 overall.

Not from the area or state at that, first time coming there. People were so friendly and helpful with recommendations. They even gave me samples of the Mac and Cheese to make sure I would like it. They also recommended me to try their sweet potato soufflé with a sample as well. LOVED!! It was super good, ordered a side to go! Definitely recommend to anyone and try their soufflé, it didn’t taste like sweet potato’s at all, could’ve fooled me. Really enjoyed the meal and service, thank you so much! 🙂

Driving up to this place, you can tell that it will be a little different. The restaurant is an old gas station. We walked in and were greeted by 2 friendly girls, who seemed to be having a great time working there. After asking them about different menu items and discussing options, we decided on 1st, the original scooby snack with brisket, fully loaded, then a plate of brisket, ribs, fried corn & Brunswick stew, plus some sweet tea to wash everything down. While the Mac and cheese is a personal favorite, we were told that some times its out of this world good and sometimes it was ok, it appeared that it wasn’t an out of this world day, so we passed on that, for now. Let’s start with the tea, it was tasty and refreshing, nothing out of the ordinary or unexpected, but good. Next was the Brunswick stew, it was good, had great flavor and filling. Moving on to the fried corn, this was interesting, something I’ve never had before, I’d highly recommend trying it. The brisket and ribs came next, both were incredible tender and juicy, cooked well. I like a little more spice, but the flavor was still good. Next was the star of the show, what would have been my drunken go-to (if I had been drinking prior to trying it), the Original Scooby snack with brisket – all the way. I really enjoyed it. This is a full order of French fries, covered with cheese, sour cream, brisket, jalapenos, onions, olives & I added aittke sauce to it. This was so good, I will be ordering it each time I go back. This was easily my favorite thing there. Go here, try the scooby snacks, say hi to Sammy!

Great BBQ pulled pork plate. The pork was moist and looked appetizing, and even better on the tongue. Their Signature sauce was nice and tangy. The Sweet and Smokey was definitely tasty and I tried both equally. Signature won out in the end .
The sides I chose were green beans and brunswick stew. The greens were bland, I assume on purpose so we can add salt/pepper to our taste. The brunswick stew is chunkier than I like but still passed the taste test. I would definitely eat here the next time we’re through.
Oh… and as we were leaving my lovely lady noticed that a band I worked with many years ago (the Fly Me Courageous album) had been there recently and posted there own “Signature” review of Papa Buck’s on the bulletin board. Check out the pic for Kevin Kinney’s comment 🙂

I have revied many small town bbq houses around the southern United States. You would not expect this hole in the wall place to knock it out of the park. Well! They did. Great food the chopped pork sandwich had the right texture of lean and fat. The sauce was great and the buns mad the difference.
You will not be disappointed folks. Give it a try.

2/10, don’t recommend.
Wait staff was not friendly; not rude, but just didn’t seem to care about anything at all.
Excessive wait time, and food was cold. Another party received their food almost instantly after ordering, though, and it was steaming hot. Not sure why we had to wait for cold food.
Pork was riddled with bones.
Price definitely did not match quality of food, service, or atmosphere.

In Vidalia for the onion festival recently and got tired of waiting in traffic to see the air show so figured we would go eat lunch. On a whim we stumbled upon PaPa Bucks BBQ and what a great surprise!! Service was fast, freindly, the food was excellent and portions were impressive. I had the beef brisket and my wife had the loaded potato. Both did not dissopoint! We are looking forward to going back to Vidalia to visit Papa Bucks BBQ.
