So the restaurant is very much in the style of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”. It’s actually in the back of the Chevron gas station convenience store. Only a couple of plastic tables and chairs for a seating area. They have only been open for a few days. The owner was working by herself doing everything!
The food was wonderful and for me, pretty authentic Panamanian food.
We ordered “Ropa Vieja”, Fish Ceviche, Arroz con Pollo, Carimañola, Patacones, Plátanos Maduros, etc. All very tasty !
We will definitely go back!

I read Shaunda’s post on the San Antonio Restaurant Facebook page and we headed over to try @puropanjaz Panamanian cuisine.
It’s a stone’s throw from Toyota Field and Morgan’s Wonderland, inside the convenience store at the Chevron gas station. Shaunda grew up cooking with grandma, a Panamanian-Jamaican influence. Please be patient as the great food takes time. She won first place on Food Network’s cupcake wars and a graduate of CIA San Antonio.
We tried everything on today’s menu (see photo). Most flavorful were the oxtail, Arroz con Pollo, Empanada, and Panamanian Tamal. The chicken in the Pollo and Tamal was so moist. No surprise that Shaunda brines the chicken! The Patacones and Yucca Fries were great with Panamanian ketchup.
She didn’t have dessert today, but I look forward to trying the rum cake. Please stop by and support her business. There is limited seating.
It was great running into James and Ryan, who also saw the post.

Great food, friendly owner. We ordered a lot of things and they came out in a timely manner. Don’t like that its in a gas station but its clean. Would recommend and I’m Panamanian. Try the arroz con pollo and potato salad.

So me and my friend were going to a soccer game at the field right next to it. And stopped in to get a drink. My friend ordered some food, just asking for whatever she recommended. He spent 20 dollars and got a ton of food and said it was one of the best thing he’s ever had. I tried some and it lived up to the hype. It was amazing and she even gave us some free empanadas for selling her out. Was amazing. Highly recommend.

The food and service was amazing! I would recommend it to anyone. I went into the gas station this restaurant is located in expecting to get a cheap hot dog or sandwich. Instead, I ended up getting some of the best food I’ve ever had in Texas. YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!!!

I am writing to express my frustration regarding an issue with an order I placed on your website. In February, I ordered tamales online, and your website stated that they would be ready for pickup or delivery on March 3rd. To date, I have not received any communication—no phone call, no email—regarding the status of my order, despite having already made a full payment.
I am deeply disappointed by the lack of updates and the absence of any response to my situation. It is concerning that your website continues to operate and accept payments without fulfilling orders or providing customer support. This is not the way to run a business, and it has left me feeling ignored and frustrated.
I request that you address this matter immediately by either providing an update on my order or issuing a full refund. If I do not receive a response or resolution within [insert a reasonable timeframe, e.g., 3-5 business days], I will have no choice but to take further action, including reporting this issue to the Better Business Bureau or my credit card company to dispute the charge.
I look forward to your prompt attention to this matter.

My message from 2 Years back, I gave you 5 stars that became 1:
I visited and placed an order for various items, including carimañolas, empanadas, plantains, and oxtails with rice, for my mother, myself, and my daughter. The food was absolutely delightful, both in taste and aroma. I highly recommend this place for takeout food.
THE RESTAURANT IS INSIDE OF THE GAS STATION IN FRONT OF THE HEROES STADIUM.

My sisters and I, Trixie Peña Triplett and Vielka Pink, went to eat lunch at Panjaz Panamanian Cuisine in San Antonio for lunch and the food was amazing!!! I thought I was back in Panama. We tried their carimañolas, ceviche, sancocho and arroz con pollo. Also got a Panamanian tamal but forgot to take a picture. Shaunda, the owner and chef, was very accommodating. We will definitely be back!

So glad I made my family drive to find this location. The food is so yummy. We had arroz con pollo, tamales, carimañolas, and ropa vieja and they were all legit! We even went back and ordered it all again to bring to the grandparents in Kerrville. They loved it all too. It will be a regular stop when I’m in the San Antonio area.

I bought a Panamanian buffet one time, the food was AMAZING, TASTY, very AUTHENTIC PTY food. The only reason for my 4 star rating is bc I been to the Lombrano location 3 times now and every single time, the person at the front desk said she is not there, to come after 6 to order, no option to order food either at location on the ipad. I tried website it gives me error msg and cannot order. I even text the number on website no response. I guess I will have to wait until the dine in location opens.

Panamanian here! This food it’s not authentic from Panama. Sancocho only has corn and ñame so not accurate, the bollos de maíz do not have fruits or anything on it, and chicken and rice is rich in veggies and not too much colorant to the rice! so very iffy about this place. Panamanian food when authentic!
