Panini Kabob Grill is a great spot for anyone craving Mediterranean flavors in La Jolla. The food portions are huge and prices are reasonable.

The service and staff are friendly and attentive. Plus, the location is super convenient, with plenty of parking

Service here was terrible. I tried to add prawns to my meal but the waitress wouldn’t let me. She claimed that I could not add prawns to the dish I ordered. I called BS and she got her manager. I inquired if this was true. The manager tells me the same thing even though I pointed out that their menu does not say any such thing. The manager also has the audacity to tell me that if I want to add prawns to my meal, she would upcharge me over $20 to get the 4 measly prawns that the menu clearly states would only be $9.99.

As if this experience didn’t leave a bad taste in my mouth, the meal comes along. The bread the meal came with tasted like cardboard. For a place that claims to make its food fresh daily, it was sorely lacking in flavor and taste.

Then there’s the service. I ordered a glass of water that didn’t arrive until I was halfway through my meal. When they finally give me my drink, they drop it off on the opposite side of my table where I had to get up to reach it. I finished my drink pretty quick because I was thirsty from the poor tasting bread.

I have eaten at a few Panini Kabob Grills, and this is by far the worst service I ever received. Now I can see why the place was empty when I arrived. That was probably the only thing it had going if you want somewhere quiet, but the service wasn’t quick on refills. They waited until I was ready to go before coming back to offer a refill on my drink. This place was the worst experience I had. I do not recommend this place because of its poor service, bad taste in the food, and staff trying to squeeze more money out of you by contradicting their menu pricing and options. The fine print on the menu never makes any such claims that prawns are limited to certain dishes only. When I told the manager that I never encountered this at other PKGs, she continues to lie and say that other PKGs are the same. Not true! Mission Valley location did no such thing. So buyer beware of this place trying to upcharge you and contradicting their menu options.

Good overall experience here. I came in April, 2025 and found the setting agreeable, the food great, the portions large, and the ambiance spacious and capacious and fitting right in the Southern California style. I liked seeing the art of the walls and felt the service was also fairly top-notch.

Overall, yes. Kabobs were well cooked and seasoned. Grilled vegetables were truly a delight. Rice is not recommended as it was very hard and not cooked properly. In all honesty the rice tasted like uncle Ben boxed rice. Very disappointed.
Salads were delicious and highly flavorful.

If you think about consistency, great service, fine dine-in for mediterranean menu, think PKG aka Panini Kabab Grill.

If you are tight in budget but still need healthy and tasty food, Think PKG !!!

They are superb. Never found better Falafal anywhere else. Their wraps are more than enough for 1 person and tasty as well.

Location is convenient, in UTC westfield mall on the Genesse side

Update: I went back to eat the same dish I liked so much last week. Unfortunately, today the hummus and salad dressing had way too much raw garlic, something I don’t like and easily taste. I’m sure it’s ok for some people, but I regret that it was so good last week and today I couldn’t eat any of it. The more disappointing aspect was that I offered the waiter feedback for the chef, given that the food was so different today. The waiter’s response was: ‘there’s no garlic in the dressing’, basically discounting my feedback. It seems obvious that this restaurant does not train its employees. A simple “I’m sorry” would have have been appreciated.

If you don’t like overpowering raw garlic taste in your food, avoid this place. I will not be going back.

Last week’s review:
Excellent chicken wrap with strawberry and dates salad. Great choice.

This restaurant is a gem! The food is fresh, served in large portions, cooked perfectly. I’ve dined in person twice and regularly order takeout from them. Their chicken has always been juicy and grilled just right! Parking is convenient since the structure is right around the corner. Not too busy and easy to get seating during the day. I hope they stay this great!

So I got the falafel wrap a side of the rice side of peppers side of pita bread and sprite so the wrap I wish it have more seasoning it was way to blend my rice was ok not great because it had to many hard over cook pieces ate all the pita bread because that’s was the only thing I liked oh and the pasta salad was way hard like it still taste like it’s from the box I should of just saved my money and only reason why I still ate some of it because I was hungry and needed a quick bite to eat before I get my kid from school but yea I was disappointed.

I was on a business trip and we picked this place for dinner on Tuesday night. The appetizer came a bit late. The main entrees came pretty fast. It’s a pretty big portion. The server recommended the double salad instead of salad and rice because I like salad. It didn’t disappoint. The hummus was very good, but the falafel was a bit on the dry side. The chicken kabobs was tender.
