Panera Bread connected to Tacoma Mall offers convenience with both a direct mall entrance and a separate exterior entrance. The parking lot is large, but availability can be hit or miss depending on mall traffic and nearby stores. A major plus is that they have their own restrooms, separate from the mall, which is convenient. I came in right at opening and the setup felt a bit unorganized as the tables and chairs that wrre scattered, and some were already sticky. That kind of mess later in the day I’d understand, but not first thing in the morning. Another issue: quite a few flies were buzzing around, which is a personal turn-off. Staff were friendly enough, but didn’t seem particularly focused on maintaining the dining space. I’ve had better experiences at other Panera locations.

Back in November, I placed an order for a family meal that included two kids’ mac and cheese. When I picked up the order, I asked the girl where the mac and cheese was, and she told me it was at the bottom of the bag. When I got home, the kids were hungry and of course, there was no mac and cheese at all. Instead, there was just a cup of soup.
I didn’t have time to drive back, since it was way past dinner time (oh I had to wait 20 mins for my order to be done too so they didn’t honor the pick up time either) the kids were extremely disappointed. I called the store immediately, but there was no manager available. They took my number and said someone would call me back. No one ever did. I then submitted an online complaint and received an email asking for my address, with a promise of a refund. That refund or gift card never arrived. I followed up again in December and have heard absolutely nothing since. It has now been over a month of complete silence. This experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I paid for items that were not provided and received no follow-up despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue. I won’t be returning, and this has unfortunately damaged my trust in Panera locations overall. And guess what, this was my first time trying out Panera.

I placed a to-go order & scheduled it literally 2-3 hrs in advance. It was only for 2 ceasar salads. My pick up time was supposed to be at 8:30pm. I showed up at 8:20, went inside & sat down right by the pickup area & saw my name on their screen. Screen shows people’s names & their order & next to it, it says “preparing” or “order is ready.” Anyways, at least a DOZEN people had come in & got their food before mine! I sat & watched them make sandwich after sandwich which takes longer than whipping up two salads. Anyway, I didn’t get my order until 17 minutes PAST the pickup time of 8:30, I got it at 8:47!! Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!! Especially since I placed it hours in advance! Terrible experience! I got an email that said they gave me a $2 off coupon on my next order. $2 off, for having my order 17 minutes late is a joke & I honestly should have gotten my meal free at that point. Would NOT recommend ever going to this location, & I will NOT be going back! DO BETTER!

There were no cashier’s to take my order. I had to use an electric kiosk which I detest! I wanted potato soup and got Mac and cheese barely warm which I had to heat up myself in their microwave. The reason I got the wrong food is because I wasn’t accustomed to using a stupid kiosk. In the end my friend also didn’t get what she wanted because she wanted a cup of soup and instead got a bowl of soup… stupid kiosk again. We neither ate our food and basically wasted $20 me, and $30 her, and threw it away. I guess Panera isn’t a place I will go to anymore. Sad, I used to love Panera, but if they can’t have wait people wait on you then what’s the use of going?

It was our very first time dining here, so we walked up and cashier took our order was great, but first thing is they are out of the croissant toast, so could not try the Monsiur sandwich, then I decided to get a half grilled cheese and corn chowder soup, as well the Philly cheese sandwich, my wife got a salad and she said they are out of Cucumbers if that was alright, so we had our food to go, so already out of bread then another item, after leaving a great Tip for the cashier , then our order gets called and we leave I get into the car to check our order and was missing the soup, as well bacon on the mac and cheese, so had to go back inside and ask the manager lady that we are missing items then she shows me the receipt and the cashier didn’t give us the deal and only rang up half grilled cheese and no soup. So I had to go wait in line another 5-8 mins about four people ahead of me, order my cup of corn chowder and turns out the soup alone was $9/$10 bucks, so was already a bit mad had to wait in line, tipped well and they missed a item and let alone pay for a small $10 soup that didn’t have tortilla strips, so get back to the car and saw they only gave us regular mac and cheese, so had to go back inside and show my receipt and the Mac and cheese and let the manager lady know so she grabbed a hand full of bacon and put it on. Okay great that works I guess, but was very displease with the service and the quality of food and was very let down on the food itself, the cheesesteak was still red/raw, the soup had not tortilla strips like the picture, we didn’t get the half deal for the soup and paid full price for the smallest cup not filled, the bread was out as well cucumbers. The restaurant had a bunch of dirty tables and trash on floors. Was very surprised on how this restaurant chain was ran and if the others are like this. Was not a great feeling paying $65 bucks for basically a sub-par meal and don’t know if it’s this location or how this company runs its places but I don’t know if me and my wife would try it out again. We live in Alaska and never been to one before and for a first time was really let down.

I went to go pick up my order that i placed on the app and when opened it all the bagels were mixed inside the bag together with the napkins and the tub of cream cheese and plastic knife. Very poorly bagged! At least separate the bagels from the tub of cream and cheese and napkins. i am very disappointed. This is not the right way and a proper bagging! Teach your employees well! I work in the food industry and a service quality manager and i can tell you this is beyond bad!!

I bought a few items everything, but the salad was good. It was soggy with water in the bottom, no chicken, and yes, I doubled checked I paid for the chicken. It’s sad that I can get a better tasting salad at Wendy’s.

This location seems to be having issues. I’ve had lunch there occasionally I was work in that area since it was new. Used the app to not order on site at 12:45. Last time I was in, it took a hour for a small order. When I placed the order, it kicked me out to an hour delay at time of order. I went for it. I show up on time based on the order of stated and it was not ready with more than a hour to prepare. The order ready list is random and you can see some people go before others. Work through it order by order. My order didn’t “process” until the time it was said to be ready. That seems to be a App system issue in my opinion. Get there and wait. Then wait to see other orders go before mine. This is not the first time this location has experienced this. Manager needs to gets this resolved. An hour plus wait is a long time for this sort of service. Place is going down hill.

The place was packed. Food took forever to get and then it was just okay. People waiting for their food in the same area where you pick up your food and it was a narrow walkway. Kiosk to order food was not working properly. The two staff that I communicated with were friendly.

The food definitely varies from location to location. The Tacoma Mall location was not up to par. My Philly Cheese Steak was probably the worst I’ve ever eaten & I have tried quite a few Cheese Steaks at various places and this one was not good at all.
