I liked the place—it’s very cozy and has almost a home-like feel. The food is fresh and tasty. That said, I guess I somehow missed the point when Panera Bread started costing nearly as much as nice sit-down restaurants. Price, generally speaking, is one of the main factors to consider and that is where it’s very questionable choice

I received a Panera GC for Xmas and despite my previous experience there before with a terribly dry sandwich, i ordered 2 cheesesteak sandwiches this time. My first annoyance was that I gave the card number over the phone so they had access to my balance. My $24 total shot up to $32. FIRST, I CHOOSE to tip or not, SECOND, I CHOOSE the amount! Thats, THE LAW. The receipt wasn’t even itemized, just the total, so the deception was easy.
I ate HALF of the first sandwich and was unable to finish the rest. The single slice of cheese melted right up into the roll and became undetectable. Same with the sauce. I saw no evidence at all of caramelized onions, just a gold Hugh on the bread. As for the peppers, I found 4 tiny red slices for the whole sandwich. I said I only finished half because I just couldn’t torture my jaws further by trying to chew it into something I could swallow. I couldn’t work up enough spit to overcome the dryness. Also, to quote an old 70’s commercial, “WHERE’S THE BEEF?” I opened the other half and I’m not kidding, I took pictures, there were spaces between the tiny flakes of meat! I Picked them off and put them in my kitchen Tablespoon and packed it down. It was HALF A TABLESPOON. So, my $12 sandwich held 1 TABLESPOON of beef. For a $32 total, for 2 of these disasters, I could have gone anywhere and ordered a steak!
I HATE this xmas gift. I can’t trust their sandwiches and I cant stomach the idea of a $6 cookie. Its not worth the gas driving there so I’m throwing the balance of the GC in the trash.

The menu is confusing and the food is expensive. The photo is of my leftover, unappetizing grilled cheese sandwich and inferior apple. The coffee was good and the staff was kindly tolerant about explaining the menu. The pastries looked appealing and the french bread that my friend had with her soup that tasted good. We had hoped to get a breakfast roll but that is not offered after 10:30 a.m.

Visit on occasion usually in the morning. Like the variety of baked goods and soups. On my most recent visit, I enjoyed a ham, egg, cheese and breakfast sandwich (pictured). Free Wi-Fi access and a rewards program is available. Friendly and attentive service.

We arrived at this location at 8:15 and we were told we could not dine in after 8:00 PM even though the restaurant closes at 9:00 PM. We were told we could sit at the back patio through a back door. The back patio tables were all dirty and I could tell the homeless were using the area because there was ripped, worn out dirty clothing on the chairs and tables. Not to mention we could not get back in to get the food after we ordered through the back side after we managed to clean a table to sit. So we had to go all the way around the building to get back in to pickup the food. The staff were nice and friendly, and the quality of food was acceptable. However, I would not be visiting this location again.

Had lunch with 4 of us total. A couple of orders were incomplete with the turkey and cheese sandwich missing the cheese. An order was missing the side and had to ask for the apple. Also the new chicken cranberry sandwich was tasty however the portion was so small, almost an ice cream scoop on a half sandwich. The photo of it they have looks like it’s 2 inches high with the chicken salad, not worth the $10. Went to complain and got another scoop added on. On the receipt it states if your order is not accurate to let them know and you will get a special free treat. No one offered us anything. The bread of both sandwiches looked they had been torn in half rather than cut, had jagged edges. It’s been a long time since coming to Panera and I wasn’t impressed with this visit and will not plan to go back. Many other better options like CPK around the corner.

Really nice girl working the register helped us out. We came here after Chipotle to grab desert for the girls. I like how they show calories and it scared me into getting just 1 cookie for the both of my daughters. Sharing is caring after all. They were happy, table clean, music a nice softness while still audible and good atmosphere.

Have bought sourdough bread several times and it had large air pockets. Made several complaints and the excuse was the pandemic or the oven is not working properly. Never once they accepted that their making process was broken. Go learn how to need the dough. I see lot of Panera locations have closed permanently I wonder why? Quality of food & service are the key ingredients for success.

I usually really enjoy Panera Bread, but oh my word, this Mission Viejo location is certainly on the struggle bus. I’ve never had a “to go” order that has been correct, and we don’t know until getting home and opening up the order. Today’s issue was the fault of the cashier who entered in the wrong chicken sandwich and I didn’t know it until I got home with an inedible (spicy) sandwich. Also ordered a cookie, which wasn’t 1/2 price because a drink wasn’t ordered. Why order a drink when signs are posted that the drink machine is out of order?!??
I didn’t even bother calling the restaurant this time because on the previous occasions (once for the wrong soup from what was in the receipt, and once when a sandwich was missing ingredients and had odd ones included) management only said “Sorry, we will try better next time.”
