Absolutely delicious food! I first came here six years ago for my husband’s birthday after hearing about the restaurant from a foodie. It’s an unpretentious spot with incredibly good food. We ordered 10+ different dishes that first time and loved everything, especially the dan dan noodles and the pork bun. Nothing can ever compare to their Dan Dan noodles no matter how many times we order them from different restaurants!
We moved far away after a few years, but when we came back to visit friends this month, this was the first restaurant we wanted to return to. The food was just as delicious as it was six years ago. Highly recommend!

Classic Chinese Family establishment, the waitresses (daughters?) are so quick between cutting vegetables, taking my order, and refilling my water, and they have great no-nonsense girlboss energy.
Was hungry for a chill lunch after the arebetoreum and decided to give this place a try. I thought it was a bit expensive but they actually give you large portions, so for example many diahes are 18-20 which you’re probably like “damn thats expensive” and then they bring out Emperor Xi’s size plates

This is the only Chinese food we get in DC! Every time we order take out we try to get something new to try their large menu. Some of our favorites include egg rolls, Szechuan chicken (pictured- tastes way better than it looks), dry braised chicken, double cooked pork, and steamed dumpling in red sauce. Everything is delicious!

This place was awesome! It was so good I came back the next night for another dinner here. The menu seemed to be mostly authentic Chinese food but there were a few American-Chinese options like sesame chicken. Definitely get the “Chinese Burger”
Edit: I’ve returned to this restaurant about two years later because I remembered it being so good. Still amazing. I recommend it to anyone who visits DC.

We really enjoyed the wood ear mushrooms, shangzi steamed cold noodles, the cubed fish and silken tofu-mapo style. The portions were generous and very fresh. The balance of heat and spice was perfect. We are so excited to return now that we know there is authentic Szechuan food in our neighborhood. Service was a bit cold, yet efficient.

This is a great place for very authentic Szechuan food. I’ve been here multiple times and have never had a bad dish. The menu is extensive, but don’t expect the food to be “American Chinese.” Entrees are typically $15-20, and will be served family style for the table to share. It’s in attached to a shabby-looking Days Inn in a shady part of town, but don’t let the neighborhood intimidate you; the food is worth it. It’s a great stop for lunch or dinner before or after walking around the Arboretum which is pretty much right across the street.

The female owner appears indifferent to customer service. The taste of the food was inconsistent; while the paomo was enjoyable, the duck blood lacked flavor, saozi noodles has no taste, and the roujiamo was overly greasy.

Arrived too the dimly lit restaurant right after they opened. There were no other patrons. The hostess/waitress greeted us and brought us to a table right next to the hostess stand. My baby was asleep and I didn’t appreciate how inconsiderate the waitress was when she was breaking ice and pouring water noisily. When ordering my husband asked me my opinion on whether or not he would like a particular dish. Maybe the waitress misunderstood but she answered the question abruptly probably not realizing the question was not for her. When our food arrived she had brought out the dish that was in question before even though we nver said we wanted it. Subsequently a dish which we ordered was left out. The food was okay. We had a few cold dishes: sliced pig , wood ear, and century egg. For the main dishes we had sour cabbage fish soup and Mongolian Beef. Portions were all small except the soup. The beef was not tender and the soup lacked substance. I did not think any of the food was worth their costs but we were hungry and wanted to try something different and the food sufficed.
