My usual spot is Citrus Heights, thought id give this area a try. A mistake.

Just wasnt the same, like not even close. Ordered premium entrees and they were just ok. What made me write this review was that I ordered the pepper steak and I literally got 1 bite of steak out of the entire entree. I woulda normally let it go, but like I wanted steak, not veggies. Im not asking for much, just what is advertised.

Customer service was great here, very professional and friendly, I am assuming its management making sure they skimp on the meals, or it was an afterthought on their part. Either way ima stick to the Citrus Heights Panda. They always give me my money’s worth, it will be a drive but at least I know they’re always consistent.

Still craving the pepper steak, guess its Panda tomorrow, just not here.

I’ve been going to this location on and off for many years now and they used to be SO good. However lately here is my experience on recent orders:

1) They BURN the chilis used in hot dishes (like Kung Pao and Hot Orange Chicken). Like literally BURNED almost to mush. They are supposed to be roasted, not completely burned black. These burnt chilis cause the entire dish to taste like burnt ash.

2) The chow mien was dry and thin, and the rice was dry and cold

3) Half the chicken in the Kung Pao contained big disgusting pieces of fat and gristle (or something else hard to chew) ICK!!

4) The portions are about 25% smaller than they used to be, including the little single entree little boxes. Google it, it’s true! I remember the days when you could get a dish packed full of Chinese food. Those days are gone, although with inflation and raised minimum wage I guess I can’t fault them for this. It’s just something to be aware of.

You can still get full plates from other Chinese restaurants, but they cost $3 more and don’t employ as many non-owners/non-relatives, so that’s probably why they can afford to load up a dish. Also, those independent restaurants don’t pay ridiculous franchise fees to pad the pockets of the CEO’s living in mansions.

I haven’t tried any other Panda Express locations yet, since I’ve lived in Rancho for over 30 years now. But I’m done with this crappy location. I can live with the smaller portions but NOT the burnt chilis and dry, flavorless rice and chow mien.

This is the best one in town. They are fast and never run out of food. When the food is running low, they are already making a fresh batch. You never have to wait for them to make more. Plus workers are nice.

I ordered a 3 entree plate with string bean chicken, and shrimp. The string bean chicken tasted old and clabbery for it to have been ordered at 11:15am THIS MORNING!!!!

The rice and the string bean chicken taste like old oil and what’s worse is that I bit into a piece of refrigerated cold chicken!!!!!! and the food in general was just not at all fresh!!! Very disappointing for my first time eating here! If you look at other panda locations I have been to in the past ordering the same thing, there is a big difference in photos!!!

Update: 3/15/23 – I came back for dinner and the food was COMPLETELY different than what I had weeks prior!!

You can also see the difference in pictures!

After a long day at work, wanted to stop by and get some food. (Take out) I got a bowl with chow mien and orange chicken then a side of veggies. As I am eating, I noticed something in my food… A BUG. I am disappointed, disgusted, and tried calling no one answered. Not eating from this place no more.

When I want Chinese food now, Panda Express is where I go. This was a clean and friendly restaurant. The employees even gave me a scoop of the fresh Beijing beef entree without me asking for it. Everything tasted delicious and satisfied my Chinese food craving. Not a great date spot since there’s nothing to do in the area except grab a bite to eat. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

The staff was friendly and food was great! We did have to wait for our order because they had run out of one of the choices. Andy was so nice and helpful! He tidied up the table we were at, offered us a a drink while we waited and was very friendly. Andy was multi tasking throughout the restaurant. Service was great!

4:30 on a Friday. You would think the food would be fresh for the evening rush. The blacken pepper chicken tasted nasty. Super watery and Black. The bejing beef was soggy. And the chow mein was old. Also Norma is not a very pleasant employee she was rude and had attitude.

The food is extremely dry, and the noodles are so dry they’re almost dry. Inside, homeless people are begging for food, but the manager doesn’t do anything to stop them. He just looks on, seemingly oblivious to the customers’ complaints. I hope you’ll reconsider your next visit here.
