I’ve ordered menudo at almost every Mexican restaurant in Havasu and all of them were just so so or worse. Then I ordered it from Pancho Villa’s and I was amazed. It’s better than my favorite Mexican restaurant in southern ca (Morena’s in Huntington Beach) and that’s saying a lot. I’ve had their menudo at least 6 times and it’s consistently perfect !! Comes with corn or flour tortillas. I get the gigantic flour tortilla and it’s very tasty.
The shredded beef taco combination plate is also very, very good and reasonably priced. I would also compare this to some of the best Mexican restaurants in southern ca. Now that I live in Havasu I’m so glad to have the same quality Mexican food that I enjoyed when I lived in so cal.
In addition to excellent food they have a salsa bar with a nice variety of sauce from mild to hot. I asked for salsa macha to put in my menudo and they had that as well. It’s liquid gold for menudo. Just add a little and it gives just the right amount of heat.
I’ve read a couple bad reviews on this place but that has not been my experience. I highly recommend Pancho Villa’s !!!! There’s some super high priced Mexican restaurants in Havasu that are horrible. I won’t name them, but if you live in Havasu you know. Pancho Villa’s is legit. Not a high priced, fancy place with mediocre food. If you want some real Mexican food at a reasonable price this is the place.
My wife asked if they still served breakfast burritos for dinner and they do, all day. We had the bacon and potato breakfast burrito and I’m claiming it as the best in town! We really think they have the best one around. When the flavor makes you smile, you know it’s great. I’m not making this up or exaggerating, try it.
The Cheese Enchiladas are good. They’re stuffed with lots of cheese and topped with shredded lettuce and even more cheese. I’ll be getting these again and again.
The shredded beef taco was good, it had lots of meat and was better when paired with their salsa. I’ve had similar tacos so it wasn’t as memorable as the burrito. Still really good though if you want a taco.
The booths don’t fit large people comfortably. I’m 5’11, 200lbs and the table is too close. It’s not a big deal, just a heads-up to avoid the booths and pick a table with chairs if you’re 200+lbs.
The plastic fork provided was too small and flimsy. I hope they upgrade these. They feel kid sized.
If you’re handicapped, no problem. They have parking and a ramp entrance. This building has been here many years and was a previous restaurant so you shouldn’t have any issues.
If you want Mexican food similar to other taco shops only better, eat here. We enjoy it and think you will too. We will definitely be coming back.
**Update** We’ve been here several more times and really enjoy the cheese enchiladas. Dude in the back knows what he’s doing! Thanks for coming to Havasu.
Best carne asada nachos.
Best grilled polo burrito and tacos
Super friendly staff. You’d think they were all owners.
I don’t know that it was the best Mexican I’ve ever had, but it was still good. I would go back.
After we ordered we noticed we missed the sign about 5 street tacos for $5. Didn’t get a chance to try those.
We got a few regular tacos instead. Plenty filling, fresh ingredients, fresh salsa.
