It’s the first time we tried Venezuelan food. Amazing! Pretty similar like Chinese burger. Love it. Bothe beef and chicken are juicy. Recommend.

Food looked amazing in the images from their menu and tasted pretty good. The chicken ended up being a bit dry and the meal was filling but not really as amazing as I thought it would be for the price. It is a food truck so the atmosphere is what it is.

Pana Venezuelan Food Truck seems to be very popular lunch place and is going strong in Santa Cruz. Since it is popular in Santa Cruz, as a vegetarian decided to give it a try hoping to find something to eat after a long coastal trail at Pana Venezuelan Food Truck located at Mission street.

Their food is amazing! I really love papelon, Venezuelan lemonade, I’ve never tasted this great taste before, can feel special cane sugar and lemonade, which was not too sour or sweet. For the pabellón, it was also excellent. It was my first time to try plantain, the big banana, which might be my favorite add-in here. I will come back definitely.

Maybe I ordered at a bad time? My arepas were pretty dry, stale, and under seasoned. I ordered the pabellon which comes with beef, plantain, cheese, and black beans. The masa was dry and a little stale. The beef needed seasoning and wasnt the most tender. Even my dog wasn’t stoked to try some. I love plantain, its my favorite food but some of it was way overcooked and hard. I couldn’t taste the beans honestly so I took them out, it was unnecessary. I also ordered the catira which is shredded chicken and cheese. The chicken was super dry and under seasoned. Same issue with the masa. I got all the sauces – spicy, guasakaka (aka wasakaka), and garlic. The garlic sauce was very very good but not unique. I ate the most of this one. Guasakaka is an avocado base and tasted store bought (almost like herdez or something idk). Spicy sauce was my least favorite. It had a ok amount of spice (not lingering at all) but was too bitter. I did order a Papelon as well but they forgot it sadly. Also keep in mind the arepas are pretty expensive and not super filling. I’m glad I got 2. But realistically their arepas should all be $2 cheaper. Unless this really was just a bad day for them. Not really willing to give them another go though.

I love this place. It was something completely new when I first approached but I was super interested in trying the combination of foods. Everything had its own distinct flavor and combined so well to create a new taste. I haven’t been able to find anywhere else with delicious arepas like here. I’m so glad I’ve tried it and I’m looking forward to going back again. I always get the reina pepiada (chicken) and my boyfriend gets the pabellon (beef). We come all the way from San Jose whenever we get the craving and it’s always super worth it.

My friend and I have walked by this truck for 4 years going ‘oh that looks good. I’ll go there one day.’ I shouldn’t have waited, Pana exceeded my expectations. Plantains and arepas were so tasty. Best food truck in the city? Definitely in the running 🙂

Run don’t walk to this local food truck serving authentic Venezuelan arepas. Parked in the corner of the Westside Farmer’s Market lot across from Santa Cruz bikes. Friendly and helpful staff offering entirely customizable, filling portions. Even the picky kids were happy. A couple picnic benches and plenty of free street or lot parking. Conveniently next to the new westside pump track/skate loop. Don’t miss the plantains, variety of sauces, and tasty drink offerings. We’ll be back to try the rest soon.

This place is amazing. I saw its logo hand painted on my friend’s beer pong table: a sign of how loved this place is.
