They are currently in their soft opening period… yet they did have excellent service.
Unlike most of the Chinese/ dim sum restaurants, Palette is spacious making it more elegant. We loved it a lot.
Food .. we liked their classic shrimp dumplings (ha gow) and also the blossom ha gow (they were a bit sticky though). XLB was OK…we preferred their regular version instead of the palette XLB (though we liked the pearled vinegar).
Wagyu beef chow fun was a bit too salty for us, and most of the chow fun were sticking together. However, the beef was delicious.
All three desserts were great! We loved them all.
Overall, we loved the atmosphere, service and how their presentation. We will definitely be there again to try other dishes 🙂

Coming here was actually a last minute decision because the restaurant we intended to go to had a ridiculously long wait lol. BUT BEST SPONTANEOUS DECISION EVER! We saw the review rating at 3.9 and were curious. After seeing some of the reviews talking about service and what not we decided to just go, because, being real for my people, sometimes poor service equals the best food hahaha. Anyways, we stepped in and it was gorgeous. Super modern, loved every design choice! In my line of work you can’t help but appreciate great design. Anyway, service was phenomenal! I FORGOT OUR WAITRESSES NAMEEEEEEEE….. but she was FABULOUS! Every dish that came out was spot on and so delicious. Honey walnuts shrimp is one of my favorite dishes altogether and there is now up there alongside my favorites!! What the people who I think reviewed lower didn’t quite factor in was that they’re still in their soft launch. I loved the food, atmosphere, and even their plates. We will be back! I did a FULL video review on our new foodie instagram @anightwiththeneeleys Long name, I know, but it was a hashtag we used when our kids were little lol. You should definitely try this place.

Drove two hours just to satisfy a dim sum craving and it was absolutely worth it! OC people are seriously lucky. As someone born and raised in Hong Kong, I don’t say this often: the food here is genuinely excellent!

Standouts for me were the xiao long bao, wagyu fried rice, and the slow-cooked beef short rib. Everything we tried was solid, and I honestly wish I had room to order more.

We tried a good amount of the cocktails too, and you can tell they put real effort into that menu. The Peachee Martini and Sticky Situation were my favorites. Balanced and creative without being gimmicky.

Highly recommend. Will definitely be back!

Got a chance to go to their soft opening for dinner. I’m really happy I did! This is a great place for date night and the ambiance is nice. For drinks, the Jade cocktail was so good and refreshing. The food was amazing, dim sum was worth the price. I got the Ha Gow (nice thin skin, tender and juicy shrimp), the Typhoon XO shrimp dumpling (so tasty! This was my fave. I dont think I ever had anything like this), Honey Miso Cod (I felt like this was a take on Nobu’s, but I preferred Palette’s wayyyyy more. It was SO fresh), and the garlic noodles (was to die for! Almost like Italian pasta with an Asian kick)

I’ve been waiting for this restaurant to open for almost a year. Thought we finally going to have an awesome dim sum restaurant in the area. Not quite. We went on the first day of soft opening. Lots of employees but they seem lost. Food was decent, we were expecting better quality with the price being charged. Of all the dishes we ordered the baos/buns were the best; soft and fluffy. The worst dish; seared scallops w/garlic noodles. Noodles were soggy and lacked flavor while the scallops tasted undercooked and had a slight bitter taste. Not worth $42. Save your dough for traditional dim sum.

They just opened so there’s lots of room for improvements. Hopefully service and quality of food improve soon
Until then it will be my last visit.

Excited that Palette finally opened in SoCal! We loved the San Mateo location, and the new Tustin spot lived up to the hype. The menu is currently smaller than the NorCal location, but everything we tried was delicious, and we can’t wait to return once the full menu rolls out.

The cocktails were outstanding. Some of the best I’ve had. The Golden Oak whiskey drink was my favorite. Service was excellent and everything came out quickly.

Highly recommend: the Xiao Long Bao, BBQ pork buns, scallop noodles, and the wagyu fried rice.

The one thing to give your parents as they get older is truly.. your time. Palette’s soft opening weekend was the perfect way to celebrate daddy-o’s 74th. The only cocktail my dad knows is “the one with the salted rim” so.. lalarita with salted foam it was for dad & the jade gin drink for me! We enjoyed the dim sum the most. The young(er) crowd all loved the typhoon shrimp dumpling (basically a fried ha gow), older folks enjoyed the classics – xlb & siu mai. The soft opening menu didn’t have all the dishes but i’m excited to come back and try! The fam doesn’t eat beef so we got scallop noodles, pea sprouts and sea bass. Service was super attentive and I could tell these folks are trying their darndest to make for a good experience in their soft opening stage. I mean, dad went home and immediately approached the neighbor and told him to go try it so he must have had a good time right?!

I visited this restaurant yesterday, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I’ve been to Palette in Las Vegas many times and always enjoyed it, so I went in with high expectations. While I understand that the menu was adjusted for the soft opening, the dishes served were not what I anticipated.

The space itself was uncomfortably cold, and every dish that came out turned cold within five minutes. The restaurant was also loud and very open, making it difficult to have a conversation.

The biggest issue was the service. The servers and bussers did not seem trained at all, and the manager only did table touches without seeming to know what needed to be addressed. We ordered the course menu, yet dessert was brought out shortly after the entrée arrived. No additional utensils were provided, so we ended up eating dessert with chopsticks. When we asked for vinegar, they repeatedly brought soy sauce instead.

The chairs also had visible sauce stains, which made the place feel poorly maintained. The most shocking moment was when a busser cleared another table’s dishware and placed those dirty plates on our table while stacking them. It was honestly disgusting, and I’ve never experienced anything like that before.

I do plan to return in a few months to give it another try, but this was definitely not the Palette experience I was hoping for.

Had the opportunity to visit Palette for their Soft Opening, and was blown away! I started my visit at the bar and tried a Mango Sticky Rice (not pictured) drink that was delicious! My group and I were then seated and we tried the set menu, the food and service both far exceeded our expectations! Some of the dishes we tried are pictured below, but I was so excited to taste the food I forgot to take photos of everything!

Overall I would definitely visit again and highly enjoyed my experience. Will be visiting back soon!

I was so excited to try this spot since we are always looking for good Chinese food in Orange County, and we have been waiting for this restaurant to open since we saw the coming soon sign. We made a reservation, but I didn’t realize they had a limited soft opening menu.

Here’s what we tried:
– Palette soup dumpling ($12): 4/5 stars. The presentation and color of the dumplings were fun. It would be nice if there was a description of what was inside each dumpling. I tried one of the red colored ones and one of the black colored ones. The meat inside didn’t have a strong flavor, but the texture of the meat was soft. There was some juicy inside, but I would have liked even more juice.

– Lobster ha gow ($12): 4/5 stars. Such a unique ha gow with a cute pipette to inject even more flavor inside. The lobster inside was tasty. The skin was a little soggy and not the usual chewy texture of ha gow

– Pork and shrimp siu mai ($6): 3/5 stars. Solid siu mai, but nothing special. The meat was a little on the dry side

– Truffle scallop garlic noodles ($42): 3/5 stars. This dish was too salty for me and my fiancée. The scallops were solid, but weren’t as soft and tender as other scallops I’ve had. I enjoyed the texture of the garlic noodles, but my fiancée didn’t

– Sweet sesame sea bass cubes ($36): 1/5 stars. Neither my fiancée nor myself enjoyed this dish at all. The fried, sweet batter ruined the whole dish. The sauce tasted like maple syrup, and the batter was too thick. There was a good amount of fish inside each cube, but the sauce masked the taste of the fish

– Shanghai Bok Choy ($18): 5/5 stars. Probs the best dish, but it’s pricey for just Bok Choy. It had a reasonable amount of salt, and the Bok Choy was fresh and was tender, yet had a good crunch to it.

Ambiance is great here – upscale and modern. Service wasn’t great during the soft opening. We weren’t given any sauces for our dim sum items. They also forgot to add the Bok Choy to our order, so we waited around 40 minutes for it.
