I have taken photos of everything I got! It was disgusting! From rotten black pieces of lettuce, and there was dark purple colored greens but these were black and slimy pieces, then even the regular lettuce was black around edges, AND it is sitting all in a half of in of water, I believe, I hope..
The piece of Tiramisu that I paid nearly $9.00 for was a blob of melted something because it was put on top of the HOT entree..one can’t even identify what it’s supposed to be. It’s still warm, the dessert. Then the bread, asked for dipping sauce on the side, it came with NOTHING, and it was raw in some of the corners, and soaked in oil, one could just squeeze it and out would come out of it, I tried one bite and it was raw. Now, let’s get to that so called entree, the pasta was just gummy, and slimy, and it had a strange taste to it, took a bite, that’s all,the eggplant seems like it was never breaded and fried, but it seemed plain pan fried with some mushy breadcrumb tossed in between the see through slices of eggplant, which also had a like a burned oily taste, I would call it slop! I left everything as is, and because the restaurant is closed, by the time I got it unpacked, and went over it, couldn’t call. This bill was nearly $50 its ridiculous what I got for it, 2 bites to taste it. Rest is all sitting there ready for me to return it tomorrow. I am beyond upset over this unacceptable food that I got tonight from Palermo’s, it was the 1st time I’ve tried to eat their food.
They have a nice bread to dip in herbed oil or marinara. Was a bit chilly so only four star for atmosphere.
Not necessarily the restaurant’s fault, but kids on tablets at full volume and speaker phone calls – societal point, but very apparent with this restaurant’s very open layout, as was the cold breeze every time someone opened the front door.
We waited for about 20 minutes for our very busy waitress to greet us. She was very apologetic about our wait and took drink and appetizer order, said she’d bring water and bread. This was at 6:40 (evidenced by receipt). She was the only one we saw working tables, this place has about 15 total. The hostess had seated a few more tables, but we didn’t see her helping at all –
10 minutes here come drinks- (waitress: “sorry, water/bread, so sorry). 10 more minutes – artichoke dip! And we got to place our order! Dip was pretty good- but half the toast was unbuttered, intentional, or foreshadowing?
The people behind us that were sitting with ToGo boxes since we arrive appear to be paying. They were waiting the whole time, and our waitress appeared to be sorting out some issue with the back.
A little over 1hr after our arrival, 7:24 (I looked) – finally get our food, Stromboli and a margarita pizza. But still no water (waitress, “my bad I forgot”).
The pizza is a sad mess of browned sauce and not all the slices have cheese and basil- a single slice is all it takes to know it’s not worth trying any more or taking home.
The Stromboli crust is done nicely, golden brown, but the filling is ice cold- like the salami, pepperoni, sauce and sausage was right out the freezer and barely thawed by the time the crust was done in the oven. The cheese was barely melted and could still see the individual shreds clumped together. I briefly considered take home- very briefly.
About 5 more minutes here comes the water, which was just long enough for us to make the unfortunate discoveries described above for us to make our final requests of the evening, to settle up and speak to the owner.
Our very exasperated waitress’ voice is cracking as we’re describing the food issue. She is very apologetic and trying to explain. We tell her that we have recognized she is running around. She was trying to offer fixing it, but this meal and experience was beyond repair. We could tell that this waitress was concerned this coming back on her. Our request to speak to the owner was less about the food and more to ensure this waitress was recognized and not reprimanded.
We requested to speak with the owner, Carlos, who we were told was in the kitchen. He however chose not to come to speak with us but another identifying as a manager does. We had seen her a few times at the other tables. But not as much as I would presume a front house manager to be if their staff is running around and things are that delayed.
She is verbally apologetic, but proceeds to excuse the hostess as “the youngest one here,” or that the “kitchen staff is new.” – offered no accountability- and no reason why the owner wasn’t standing there (at this point I saw no table without food)
We understand that restaurants are busy and there can be delays, but this was self-generated chaos from poor leadership, resulting in poor service, bad food, and a sour experience – I absolutely love Stromboli, but I don’t think I could be convinced to give this place another shot.
I arrived at the restaurant at 6;15, approximately 25 minutes after I placed the order. It took forever to pay for my food, since the cashier could not figure out how to ring my gift card. Not a big deal, but she had to get two other people before anyone could figure it out, and even then they had issues. I finally paid after about ten minutes and was told it would be another 5-10 minutes before my food would be ready. I sat down to wait, and a staff member brought me an order that turned out not to be mine.
I was asked by three different people during this time what I was waiting on. After telling the third person what I needed and that it was supposed to have been ready 20 minutes ago, she walked away without acknowledging my problem. A fourth person asked and said she’d check, then brought out another order that turned out not to be mine. This was at 6:45. She told me there had been a name mixup, and yet another person came out and tried to give me an order that was not mine. She went back into the kitchen, said mine was ready. Brought it out to me……wrong again. Not mine.
At 6:50, I was told that it would be “a few more minutes” and that my order was still in the oven. The person who initially took my order came over and asked if they’d figured out what the problem was, then told me that others who had ordered after me had already picked theirs up. At 6:55, another takeout order came out (not mine).
Finally at 7:02 I received my order. The person told me she put some “extras” in there because of my wait. The extras turned out to be a wilted side salad and a piece of cheesecake that was mediocre at best.
The food overall was good. Not great, just good. My husband and I each had an appetizer and an entree, and he had cannoli for dessert. He did say that the cannoli was very good. The food was definitely not good enough to justify the prices this place charges.
On top of everything else, I noticed on my receipt that I was charged a $1 “takeout fee.” Ridiculous! No restaurant should charge a fee for my choosing to take my food home instead of taking up space and manpower in their restaurant.
On top of everything, the restaurant seems to be suffering from an identity crisis. The decor, menu prices, and server attire indicate that it is trying to be an upscale and exclusive restaurant. The large TV screens, average food, and the fact that the staff seemed to be mostly teenagers gives a much different vibe.
It is inexcusable that I never received an apology aside from some sorry “extras” in my order for having had to wait nearly 45 minutes beyond the time it was supposed to have been ready. The $1 takeout fee just adds insult to injury. I should also add that the restaurant was by no means crowded while I was there. It was maybe half full, if that. We will not return.
I would definitely dine there or plan a group party.
My granddaughter has celiac disease and they were very accommodating with gluten-free options for her
