Palenque is the new raining champ of mexican food in Camden! The food here is exceptionally well made. My wife has the civchi and it came out like it was being served at a 5 star restaurant. I had the chicken chimichanga that was so full of flavor it’s incredible. Happy hour the drinks are 1/2 priced are not poured from a premix. The wait staff was constantly moving, no one just standing around. Our server, Jose H., was prompt and on time with drinks and food, not to mention a great personality. Everyone should try the “TOP SHELF” margaritas, obviously not poured from a premix.

In short, this place is incredible!! Love it and will be back often !!

The food is very ordinary. We’ve been twice for dinner and while we were seated right away, the wait time for our order to even be taken after sitting down was over 15 minutes, with the food taking an additional 20 to 25 minutes. Our waitress (we had the same one both times) was extremly slow and rarely checked on us. A couple of times during the wait time, a male employee asked if we wanted more chips or hot sauce. The average food and poor wait times give this one a 3 star food and a 1 star service. Try it for a new option in Camden but it’s very very average at best.

After seeing it packed every time I drove by, I finally went to try it. I was lucky to find a parking spot. HUGE menu. My waiter barely spoke English. I guess the bartender came and asked how my margarita was. Food was great. Excellent prices too. Music was obnoxiously loud. People were having to yell to talk at their tables. There were quite a few Hispanics eating there which you don’t see much at other places which tells me it is more authentic food. I will definitely be back and spreading the word..

Awwwah yeah!!!The men are grilling and the senorita’s are serving it hot. Let’s start with the Uber delectable punch its pure nectar luv it!! Now let’s talk about hot fresh molcajete bowls OPEN faced with grilled chicken n beef draped over the edge with, secret liquid nd ingredients as avocado peaks out like the sun on a cloudy day.Hot sizzling steak, shrimp or chicken fajitas w/ slamming refried beans and fluffy mexican rice. STEAK very nice cuts that are grilled to your liking. The astomphere is casual or you can dress up. The staff are very professional. When its busy be patient the food is grilled and worth the wait. I’ll see you there I’ll be looking for you.

I don’t usually do bad reviews, but this was to the point that it was horrible.
Friday evening we waited for the dinner rush to be over, and came in to eat around 6:20. Immediately we were sat at a table and given chips and salsa. The atmosphere in the front of the restaurant was vibrant and full, well decorated. The back side gets a little darker and could use some polishing up. We ordered apps and drinks. Then we ordered dinner. Queso arrived, both a large and a small, neither ordered by me, but I was offered a bite. The flavor, decent, the temperature: cold to the point it had chunks of cheese in it. I wanted to ask them to warm it up, but my dinner friends said don’t complain and it was their appetizer, so I didn’t.
We watched the staff do a dinner drop at the table next to us. It looked amazing and I was excited for the main course. Literally, two minutes later, the staff came with the same table’s birthday dessert surprise with a sombrero and staff lined up to sing. The table was quickly like ‘we just got our food and don’t want to do this right now’. The timing was horrible, but that was for them to review. The staff scurried off and our waitress brought more chips.
The food came and I asked for some napkins and salsa verde from the guy who brought the food. He repeated what I asked for and said okay but looked at me as though that wasn’t his job and in fact didn’t help or tell our waitress. I had to ask again our waitress and she got them.
My son ordered a combo with a chalupa, taco, and stuffed pepper. He got a taco, a stuffed pepper, and a tostada (flat shell with toppings). When we asked if they could bring a chalupa instead of the tostada, she sent a manager over. I also ordered myself a tostada, taco, and quesadilla combo, and l had a tostada on my plate identical to my son’s “chalupa”.
The manager said the tostada was in fact the chalupa on my son’s plate. He said I’m probably used to Taco Bell chalupa’s and this is different. I said I have spent weeks in Mexico, and this isn’t by definition a chalupa. He said it’s TexMex and assured me this tostada was in fact a chalupa in their restaurant. A chalupa is a boat like shell, Even crispy, it wouldn’t be flat on the plate, there was no reasoning with him, so I said we will box it up and take it home. We had a party of five with three split checks and were handed the three divided checks at the table. I gave my card for my portion which was less than half of the total bill for the table, $35. The waitress came back to me with my card after charging it for the full table bill $80 and explained it was an accident. They couldn’t fix it? Somehow the split check was put back into one check at the computer. So we didn’t get the chalupa, my Mexican food knowledge was insulted, and my bill was $85 instead of $35.
I plan to call the management today to see if there is a solution to their major mistakes, as I was offered no solution Friday night and charged almost triple. I was also in a hurry to leave to get to another scheduled event that evening and wasn’t able to stay to fix the problems at the time.
