Palapas Restaurant y Cantina is perched atop the Seascape Village and has been an institution in Aptos since opening its doors in 1990. Owners Mark and Kay Holcomb designed the space and menu with the goal of bringing home their beloved experiences vacationing on the coast of Mexico with their family throughout the 80s and 90s. Palapas prides itself on fresh seafood and a large selection of coastal Mexican dishes. Our house made tortillas and traditionally prepared moles and sauces highlight our thoughtfully sourced fish and meats. Whether you are a local who has been with us since the beginning, or visiting us on a vacation of your own, we welcome you to embrace the vacation spirit and join us in this special place.

My husband and I had a spontaneous dinner at Palapas on Saturday night. He had the grilled seafood platter special while I tried the blackened halibut special. Both of our meals were absolutely delicious! The fish and shrimp were cooked to perfection. Our margaritas were awesome, as well as, the very fresh salsa and chips! The staff was outstanding!

Wonderful restaurant with excellent food and views. We went on a Thursday around 5pm so we could sit outside and watch the sunset. Staff we very awesome and brought over a heater for us to have next to us. We ordered the tostadas one with skirt steak and one with red chicken. They were both delicious. The chips and salsa are always so goo!

The wife and I visited Palapas for dinner while staying at Seascape for our anniversary. Decided to eat out on the balcony. It was very pleasant. We had the whole balcony to ourselves. The service was amazing. We had 5 different servers check on us while we were out there, several times. They even came out to start a heater for us without asking them. The food was amazing. The Baja fish tacos are bomb, and the Salmon Tostada with the Crab Chile Relano was also damn good. The drinks were perfectly made. We had a great dining experience at Palapas. Will be back for sure. Only spent a lot here because of how many drinks we had.

Love their tamales! After a meal, a stroll along the beach is so pleasant. This is my go to spot when we are in town. The kids love walking to the beach and playing for a while…it doesn’t get much better than this

This is a nice Mexican place. Good food Great service. The carne asada was great. We never eat the fried beans and here we ate them, so they were really good. They have tables outside so you can go with your dog. The chips and salsa are a good beginning too

Been coming here with my parents since I was a kid , now my wife and I enjoy coming here for date nights, but it’s been probably ten years since Ive been here for lunch on a week day. Gotta say : amazing! The staff rocks as always, super nice and professional and within minutes of sitting on the patio, one of the ladies who works here brought my dog a bowl of water! Strong work. The food is great as always, you will never leave hungry. Their salsa is one of my favorites of all time. Yes we will be back many many many many more times for decades to come, keep up the good work!
