The night started out pretty slow we waited for a table for about 20 minutes. Then we went to the bar for appetizers we had their breadsticks pretty good. Overall for the first room that only serves like sandwiches and not the main pasta dishes was the only real setback at that particular moment. Nevertheless they came and got us and we were ready for dinner. We had to go to another room to have dinner where the pasta dishes were. I do believe that it is very old-school and that they should update the system for how they wait in the dining room by the bar. The main dishes were very decorative they were very good very old-school Italian which is good but maybe the flavoring needs to kind of come up a little bit. The salad was pretty good there was big chunks of green of the lettuce that I had to break up. The main dish of ravioli and cannoli with beef stuffed and it was very good the cheese was excellent. We asked for dessert that was the best part of the meal because if you decorate how the desserts are with how the main preparation‘s are for dinner then I would’ve given a five. But a star was lost because of our service the hostess was great she was there very openly. But our waitress we needed to ask her a couple things so that could probably use some work was kitchen prep and how the meals are prepare and service. But as far is very authentic Italian it is the best I’ve had around south eastern or in Wisconsin. It’s very hard to do that in a German state in rooted with beers Brotz and sports food. Best Italian I ever had was either at my Sicilian friends house or when I went out to Chicago and even in Arizona. I do rate a 4.2 to the exact speculations of the meal.

I went here with a group of women for a bridal/bachelorette party dinner and some drinks.
The overall setting was pleasant and where we were seated had a nice view of the lake to some degree.
I had originally ordered a burger and the waitress came back to say they had absolutely no burgers left so that was disappointing. I then ordered the Chicken Alfredo and that wasn’t the best especially for the $20.00 it cost. The salad was decent enough. One 12oz Coors Light was $5.00 which is meh.
I personally wouldn’t dine here again but the waitress was friendly and attentive. The bathrooms were clean.

The pizza and drinks are quite delicious here. They have their own unique oven toasted crust and house sauce. Try the deluxe pizza.
The bartender was nice and made custom manhattans for us. Our waitress was also satisfactory.
The food came out a bit slow considering that it wasn’t too busy and the mozzarella sticks were served with marinara in a plastic cup. This restaurant could be amazing if they were to improve a few small details; the main dining room has an epic view of Lake Monona.

Mediocre food. The decor is nostalgic and cozy. We live near this place and finally went at Valentine’s Day. Heard that it’s not great so didn’t hold much hope. The Mushroom Alfredo was plain and flavorless. Didn’t understand the menu so ordered Bella Pizza, and it was IMPOSSIBLY SWEET. We tried, and we failed. Alcohols are not bad, which have nothing to do with the cook.

A staple in Madison. Good view of lake Monona and Frank Lloyd Wright community center. Food is wrygood and pizza crust is popular. The GARIBALDI™ is excellent. Ham, salamini, pepper jack, hot banana peppers on toasted French bread. The pizza is a little steep price at 24 for 12 inches, but tastes great. Service is nothing special, but not bad.

A traditional Italian restaurant with scenic views of the lake and subpar, overpriced food.
The service was good and the restaurant has clean, old school decor. In addition, the views are fantastic if you’re sat by the lake.
Unfortunately their food is a massive dissapointment. For $16 you can have spaghetti and meatballs but the sause is generic and flavorless. In addition the pasta was drenched in the sauce (see picture) and it failed to properly coat the pasta when taking a bite. Seems they didn’t finish the pasta in the sauce or reduce the sause from whatever jar.
My friends had the alfredo dishes and they lacked in flavor also. They asked our waiter for salt and pepper to add to the dish.
In addition, the pasta on the menu is labeled “fresh pasta” but when I asked our waitress she informed me the pasta wasn’t actually fresh, but standard dried pasta. So don’t let the menu fool you.
Overall, beautiful menu, but poor quality food. When you take the price into consideration, the value of the restaurant rapidly diminishes.

This was a staple place in Madison for my husband and I when we visit. Our last dinner there was not up to the usual Paisan’s experience! We waited over 2 hours for a table and when my dinner came it had no flavor. The cheese bread was good! We took it off our list of places to go next visit to Madison

Being a Madison resident my whole life I’ve grown up hearing about Paisan’s. However, somehow is 23 years I had never been. The pizza was thin crust and very good due to addition of onion in their sauce. It was a quiet and relaxed atmosphere that my family enjoyed to celebrate a birthday. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great Italian option to finally break the chain restaurant restraints.

Madison’s Best Pizza! Great views from the booths in back overlooking the lake. Nice bar upfront and great spaces for large parties. A classic for many years. Booking ahead on busy weekends and summer nights.
