We went to Painter’s Tavern with our baby and were greeted right away with warm smiles! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, which made us feel really comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, flavorful, and there were so many yummy options to choose from. We started with the nachos as an appetizer (thankfully we got the half order!) and they were huge and so good. The place was clean, had a fun atmosphere with music, and was very family friendly (yay). Prices were reasonable too. We’ll definitely be coming back!!

Me and my buddy stopped in on the way back to the city after a successful hunting trip up in the Catskills Area. Located in the Village of Cornwall on Hudson, this is a local institution with a lot of history.

Jocelyn, the new owner, welcomed us in early even though service wasn’t ready until noon. Despite this, the food was served quickly and accurately. Our server was fast and attentive. I ordered the BLT Salmon Sandwich and my buddy ordered the Reuben. We both got the French Onion soup. Food was excellent and fresh, the fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly.

The atmosphere itself is of special consideration, I had remarked to Jocelyn how everything was so very well thought out, and the pieces she lovingly displayed were acquired over a period of forty years…it felt as if each piece had a story. There were three dining areas available, and two bars, one having the feel of an old “Speak Easy” with Sex Appeal as Jocelyn herself described it.

If you’re in the area passing through, a local looking for fun, or a visitor seeing the fall foliage and quaint village, it is worth your time for a stop in, a delicious meal and historical visit. You won’t be disappointed.

Painters Tavern is this enchanting restaurant and Inn in the heart of town for Cornwall on the Hudson. And this past week we enjoyed a lovely dinner here thanks to our new local friends who adore this place. Service was great and the menu quite extensive with a lot of options including locally-sourced foods.

We enjoyed the calamari appetizer and a charcuterie board as well as the goat cheese salad and the stuffed pork loin special with gravy and the fried buttermilk chicken sandwich.

Also the drinks and wine selections were spot on and season appropriate! The desserts looked amazing but we had no room  don’t forget to pet the Painters Bull Dog when you leave. Affordable and delicious options this close to the city is a precious find.

From the moment we walked through the door, we knew we were in for a treat. Greeted with a warm smile and seated immediately, this American gem made a lasting impression on our very first visit.

Our server, Jesse, was an absolute standout — a rare gem with a heart of gold and service that goes above and beyond. Friendly, attentive, and full of positive energy, Jesse made us feel right at home and added that extra sparkle to our celebration.
The atmosphere? On point. Soft music floated through the air, setting the tone for a cozy, laid-back dining experience. The décor was modern with just the right touch of cool — a vibe that says, “Relax. You’re in good hands.”Now the food — WOW. Fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was worth savoring, and we didn’t leave a single crumb behind. It’s the kind of meal that lingers in your memory (and makes you wish you ordered seconds). And to top it off, a heartfelt thank you to the team for helping us celebrate our graduate. Your kind gestures and attention to detail truly made the night special.

If you haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for? Go treat yourself to a lasting, delicious experience.
From the Lone Star State with love —
See you again soon!

We stumbled upon this cute restaurant on our way to the Hudson Valley. The atmosphere was so fun. They had a lovely patio and inside the restaurant too. The artwork was so funky. We took a picture of the cool bulldog statue in front of the place. We are english bulldog lovers. The food was fun tasty and the prices were right. Very good service everything was in a timely manner. As we were leaving a wonderful woman talked with us. We told her very happy with our experience. Oh by the way the bar area is so fun. This place is a gem. I recommend everyone support this little gem. Great for girlfriend lunch and drinks too.

As many times as I have been to Painter’s, I was surprised I hadn’t reviewed yet. They are under new management and back open for business!

The menu is not overly complicated with great options. They also have specials on certain nights. The bar area has seating in the room, and there are separate quieter dining rooms and an amazing second bar and space. The second bar is open on weekends and for private events. The have great outside seating which is really nice in warm weather. Fabulous dog sculpture in the bar. I didnt want to sit on it till the sign said don’t sit on it. 🙂

It’s definitely a local spot… and you always want to go where the locals go. I got the Buttermilk chicken flatbread with Buffalo sauce. The amount of cheese on it was phenomenal, and I didn’t even have to ask for extra cheese! My friend and local got the beet salad. It looked to die for, and he was quite pleased. It was a little loud for him in the bar area, but I was able to tune it out. There were quite a few folks in there. The service was great and we were well taken care of. The Chritmas decorations were still up, and it was all beautiful. Great visit!

We went to Painters to celebrate NYE ! From start to finish, our experience was absolutely wonderful! The food was outstanding , fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was just as impressive: attentive, professional, and warm without ever feeling rushed. The staff Cindy , Phil, Ryan and Joslyn were incredibly friendly and made us feel genuinely welcome. On top of that, the atmosphere was gorgeous and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. Highly recommend!

My wife and I stumbled on Painters Tavern while driving through Cornwall on Hudson yesterday. We really loved everything about the place. Great service, delightful staff, delicious and modestly priced food and drinks. We met and chatted with the relatively new owner who was delightful. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. As for the very few reviewers who gave this place poor ratings and comments…shame on you. Burger King and McDonalds will always love you as customers.

Update 1/31: Brunch at Painters is BACK baby!! I went as party of a party of six and everyone left 100% satisfied. We had the biscuits and sausage gravy, blueberry pancakes, omelets, corned beef hash and eggs. Everything was scratch-made from the coffee cake, sourdough bread and the bagels from Rocky Bagel down the street.

Ever since Jocelyn bought the restaurant and inn she has found a wonderful staff and added her touch to everything else. If you want to find me on Sundays… you know where I’ll be.

Thank you Jocelyn, Phil, Frank, Ryan, Michelle, Cindy and team!!

My wife and I have been regulars since the reopening. We missed Painter’s when it closed. Jocelyn, Frank, Phil, Jeff, Jordan and the entire staff are wonderful. The food is consistently great and the new items like the chicken beast and steak entrees are excellent. The chicken sandwich is second to none. The prices are very reasonable for food and drinks.
