Jocelyn, the new owner, welcomed us in early even though service wasn’t ready until noon. Despite this, the food was served quickly and accurately. Our server was fast and attentive. I ordered the BLT Salmon Sandwich and my buddy ordered the Reuben. We both got the French Onion soup. Food was excellent and fresh, the fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly.
The atmosphere itself is of special consideration, I had remarked to Jocelyn how everything was so very well thought out, and the pieces she lovingly displayed were acquired over a period of forty years…it felt as if each piece had a story. There were three dining areas available, and two bars, one having the feel of an old “Speak Easy” with Sex Appeal as Jocelyn herself described it.
If you’re in the area passing through, a local looking for fun, or a visitor seeing the fall foliage and quaint village, it is worth your time for a stop in, a delicious meal and historical visit. You won’t be disappointed.
We enjoyed the calamari appetizer and a charcuterie board as well as the goat cheese salad and the stuffed pork loin special with gravy and the fried buttermilk chicken sandwich.
Also the drinks and wine selections were spot on and season appropriate! The desserts looked amazing but we had no room don’t forget to pet the Painters Bull Dog when you leave. Affordable and delicious options this close to the city is a precious find.
From the moment we walked through the door, we knew we were in for a treat. Greeted with a warm smile and seated immediately, this American gem made a lasting impression on our very first visit.
Our server, Jesse, was an absolute standout — a rare gem with a heart of gold and service that goes above and beyond. Friendly, attentive, and full of positive energy, Jesse made us feel right at home and added that extra sparkle to our celebration.
The atmosphere? On point. Soft music floated through the air, setting the tone for a cozy, laid-back dining experience. The décor was modern with just the right touch of cool — a vibe that says, “Relax. You’re in good hands.”Now the food — WOW. Fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was worth savoring, and we didn’t leave a single crumb behind. It’s the kind of meal that lingers in your memory (and makes you wish you ordered seconds). And to top it off, a heartfelt thank you to the team for helping us celebrate our graduate. Your kind gestures and attention to detail truly made the night special.
If you haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for? Go treat yourself to a lasting, delicious experience.

See you again soon!
The menu is not overly complicated with great options. They also have specials on certain nights. The bar area has seating in the room, and there are separate quieter dining rooms and an amazing second bar and space. The second bar is open on weekends and for private events. The have great outside seating which is really nice in warm weather. Fabulous dog sculpture in the bar. I didnt want to sit on it till the sign said don’t sit on it. 🙂
It’s definitely a local spot… and you always want to go where the locals go. I got the Buttermilk chicken flatbread with Buffalo sauce. The amount of cheese on it was phenomenal, and I didn’t even have to ask for extra cheese! My friend and local got the beet salad. It looked to die for, and he was quite pleased. It was a little loud for him in the bar area, but I was able to tune it out. There were quite a few folks in there. The service was great and we were well taken care of. The Chritmas decorations were still up, and it was all beautiful. Great visit!
Ever since Jocelyn bought the restaurant and inn she has found a wonderful staff and added her touch to everything else. If you want to find me on Sundays… you know where I’ll be.
Thank you Jocelyn, Phil, Frank, Ryan, Michelle, Cindy and team!!

My wife and I have been regulars since the reopening. We missed Painter’s when it closed. Jocelyn, Frank, Phil, Jeff, Jordan and the entire staff are wonderful. The food is consistently great and the new items like the chicken beast and steak entrees are excellent. The chicken sandwich is second to none. The prices are very reasonable for food and drinks.
