Social Profile:

THE STORY Passion, determination, and attention to details are the elements that make Paesano Ristorante one of the most appreciated Italian restaurants in San Jose and in Bay Area. Giuseppe Spatola (Pino), owner and chef of Paesano Restaurant was born and raised in Palermo. In the 80s he moved to the USA to join one of his brothers who was living in New York. After experiencing the new country for one year and eager to follow the Californian dream, Pino relocated to San Jose, where his second brother was running a restaurant. Ambitious and determined to succeed, Pino spent a few years working hard and learning all about cooking and management until he opened his own restaurant in Redwood City called Siciliano.

Contemporary Italian eatery lures locals with its traditional dishes served in a cheerful interior.

Finally checked out an Italian restaurant in Little Italy and couldn’t have picked a better spot! Such a charming, cozy date-night restaurant. We walked in around 8 p.m. on a Friday night without a reservation and were seated right away, though it was clearly busy—definitely recommend making a reservation, especially if you’re planning to go earlier on a weekend evening.

We started with a bottle of wine, and they bring out complimentary bread with an olive oil mix (dangerous if you’re like me and can easily fill up on the free bread). We shared the Insalata Cesare, which they thoughtfully split for us without even asking—such a nice touch.

For dinner, we ordered the Gnocchi alla Genovese and the Gamberi e Calamari Fra Diavola, and it was the perfect combo. We originally considered two pasta dishes, but I’m so glad we didn’t—it would’ve been way too filling. The pasta was incredibly fresh and packed with flavor, and as a basil lover, this dish absolutely hit the spot. The seafood was also delicious, fresh, and perfectly cooked, and it came with a side of veggies and roasted potatoes that rounded everything out nicely.

They also have both a side patio and a front patio with seating, which appeared to be heated—such a great option and would have been lovely to sit outside as well.

We loved everything about this experience and will definitely be back soon!

Cozy, elegant, great food and excellent service! Our server was delightful, attentive, professional, fast and with great suggestions. He is clearly experienced! Their rabbit was delicious! Their selection of desserts are just perfect along with their wine selection.
I would strongly recommend this place to anyone seeking for a great meal in the heart of San Jose’s Silicon Valley.

Spectacular experience all around. The pasta was obviously homemade, service extremely attentive. The special offering was like they knew I was coming, so many things I would like. Would definitely repeat and bring colleagues.

Made a reservation here on a Saturday around 5p. Small venue. Excellent service and amazing food that came very quickly. Got to watch the 49er-Seahawks game on the bar TV. Such a great way to end the night! Great restaurant!

My daughter and her husband took us here for a Father’s Day meal. She try to make reservations beforehand but whom ever answered the call said they couldn’t make reservations for only four people so we went before they open to make sure we got a table.

The staffing was very nice, friendly and polite and quickly took our order.

We enjoyed everything that we ordered, specifically the two appetizer was outstanding!

I will love to come back and try other menu items that looked very inviting and tasty!

Excellent service and ambiance is authentic. This was our second time and disappointed. The food quality missed the mark for vegetarian items. Pasta dishes were just boiled noodles with barely any flavor. This is a fine dining prices with bistro quality food.

One of the best Italian restaurants in the Bay area. Everything is great. Favorite appetizers include the mussels, the mozzarella in marinara, and the Calamari. Some of our favorite mains were the pesto gnocchi (so soft!!), and honestly any of the pastas. Some of the creamy pastas they make with a tasty bourbon sauce, which is amazing, but really any dish will blow you away. 10/10, would definitely go again!

The gnocchi and pappardelle are absolutely delicious, and the tiramisu is a standout favorite. The appetizers are decent, though the lamb chops have a slightly strong lamb flavor.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this place to friends and look forward to coming back!

Nice ambiance. Food came fast. But I ordered gnocchi and it did not come out right. The texture was like mashed potatoes, and they fell apart on touch. The sauce did not taste bad though.
