It was alright. For the price you pay for the food, not really worth it. I believe Mexican food is all about the spice & that rich flavors on the meat but food here didn’t have that. Ceviche was really sour. Horchatas were meh.

Genuinely one of the best spots we’ve eaten around here. Staff is kind, and the carnita tacos are delicious and good sized. 3 tacos and I was beyond tapped! Came 2 days in a row!!

This will be our last time visiting a paco’s tacos on the island. We come to the island regularly and there was one located right next to our resort. The last time we came, the service was a little off and slow. This year the service was just as bad if not worse and we don’t appreciate how there aren’t prices listed on the menus. We went to the Kapaa location and they had prices on the food menu but no prices on the drink menu. They were all scratched out. Then we went to the plantation location and they didn’t have any prices anywhere on the food menu, but had prices on the drink menu. Dining out is almost a luxury on the island these days because the prices have gotten so high for sit down experiences. We don’t have an unlimited budget and it’s just rude to not disclose the prices upfront. This isn’t the Ritz Carlton. This is your average Mexican food served in a very casual setting. And what’s up with not being able to mix and match the protein in your tacos? Why can’t I have a chicken taco and a beef taco like at any other Mexican restaurant? The icing on the cake was when the manager told our guest that she could not have the lunch special because the lunch hour had ended at 3 PM and now it was 3:05PM. I would understand that except they were seated at the table at 2:40 PM and had ordered chips and guacamole, and we’re just waiting for us to get there to order.

Bottom line. Decent food and a lovely location, but they have very little regard for their customers. They obviously don’t care about repeat business. We come to the island often so they definitely won’t get ours.

I really liked this little canteena, I found it after playing golf at the same place. The food has great flavor. The restaurant is an open air facility and the service was excellent, we shared the fajitas and the tacos

Food was average. Do NOT order chips & queso unless you like the fake cheese out of a can – very disappointing. Service was below average. Sitting on the golf course with sun going down was the best part of the experience.

Thoroughly disappointing lunch. I would guess that Mexican food greeting you from a long day on the course would get rounder up a star or two, but here’s what I experienced without swinging a single club.

– Chips 2/5 – burned flavorless at best pairs well with absence of salt
– Salsa 3.5/5 (paying for extra salsa 0/5)
– Corona Always 5/5
– Carne Asada 1/5 (didn’t taste like anything but old and reheated)
– My wife traded me one of her fish tacos (bad idea) for one of my 1/5 carne asadas (0/5 decision)
– Fish tacos were a dry 2.5/5 with sauce almost getting it to a 3
– side of rice and beans was perhaps the highlight with one tostada shell remnant used as a garnish the best tasting item of the meal

Bonus was the incidental, yet active removal of our second fly detractor fan which greatly increased the aerial traffic when committed to another table.

Overall, left with an empty feeling and concern that these are the types of meals you regret but not entirely sure anyone will really care.

Big waiting area in the front. They do the QR menu. You order before you sit down. They treat it like a full bar so plan on having a tab opened and then closed when you pay for your food. They had someone playing the guitar which was pretty cool. It was evening and the breeze was nice coming through the open windows. If you’re in the area and you want Mexican food it’s fine but it’s nothing to write home about.

First time we’ve been to a Mexican restaurant and had to pay for the chips and salsa which was available as an appetizer for $8. Also was an extra charge of $3 for choice of sauce for a wet burrito, which I will definitely do next time as burrito was a little dry. Wife had chicken nachos and were good.

Went during a slower time at 4:00 pm on a Thursday. Good service and beautiful Kauai setting along a golf course with colorful mountains in the background. Would have rated three stars for food but the service, setting and margarita bumped to four stars.

Paco’s Tacos was the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had and definitely one of the worst overall dining experiences I’ve had as well. I’m not sure how the ratings are what they are. From the chips and salsa to the ceviche to the burrito, it was near inedible. Not only was the food horrible, but our waitress was extremely rude as well. When we told her we didn’t enjoy our food upon her asking, she responded, “well no one’s forcing you to eat it” in a very rude manner. She continued to be rude afterwards and it really ended our night on a bad note. Hopefully you’ll save your time and money and avoid this place.

We had read a few reviews that were friendly, but not excellent. Seeing this place was at a golf course can indicate uncertainty, but we decided to give it a go. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Tacos (Carnitas and Shrimp) were excellent. Loved that Chipotle sauce as well. Alvocado salad was fresh and good, but really needed a simple vinaigrette dressing. Definitely recommend the margaritas. Bartender knows how to make a good cocktail. Atmosphere with views of the course were nice.
