We get to the restaurant and the waitress immediately confirms that they do not serve Pho noodles. I ask one of the waitresses why this restaurant is featured as selling Pho and she just shrugs.
We’re hungry so we sit down and look at the menu and order Tempura Shrimp, Salmon Ceviche as appetizers and the four meals you see in the pictures – Loco Moco, Mark and Mike, Ramen and Pad Thai type of noodles.
When the appetizers came out, I immediately recognized the style of the tempura, which is not even supposed to be called tempura. It was a Korean style Yachae Twigim (Fried Vegetable) with a piece of shrimp attached to it. So I figure, okay, this must be a fusion place and really looked forward to having the rest of the meals.
The four entrees are served and we dive into the dishes only to realize that they are horrible renditions of popular ethnic food.
Mark and Mike bowl, the top listed specialty was UNEDIBLE. I don’t know what this dish is supposed to be, but I’ve never thrown away an entire meal because of some vile unfamiliar taste and smell.
I don’t know if the chef ever had a Loco Moco. Reminiscing about what I had in Hawaii, I was really hoping it would taste authentic but again, I didn’t know what this dish was supposed to be. I didn’t even touch the noodles after this, and lastly, WHO SERVES INSTANT RAMEN in a restaurant? I genuinely thought this was a Japanese style ramen when I was ordering it, only to be extremely frustrated when I saw Shin Ramyeon served. It was not even cooked right – there was too much water so the soup was bland and the noodle was overcooked.
The servers were relatively prompt and friendly but this restaurant is taking advantage of people who never had authentic ethnic food and basically ripping them off.
The only authentic item I had all night here was bottled Stella Artois.
If you thought you were eating authentic food here, you have been lied to all along. Find a better place to eat.
We started with crab cakes and crab dip, both of which were pretty bad. Several people at the table didn’t care for the food at all. Unfortunately it only got worse from there. I ordered the sesame chicken and sat there while everyone else received their meals and finished eating. Turns out the restaurant completely forgot to place my order.
By the time they realized the mistake, the meeting was basically over. They did remove the item from the bill and the staff was polite, but that doesn’t change the fact that I sat through the entire meal without food while everyone else ate.
Between the poor food and completely forgetting my order, this was a very frustrating experience. I won’t be coming back.
Small extra charge for credit card.
Friendly staff
Delicious food
Well stocked bar
Had a wonderful time at Pacific Moon. Staff were super-friendly and attentive. The Raman bowl, I forgot the actual name, was really good and well seasoned. The portion is huge, with lots of noodles and vegetables. They will split it into two bowls (my picture shows split portion, vegetable) for a small charge.
Oddly enough, this is a place I’ve seen often but never went in. I’m glad I did this time. A hidden gem. Went inside and it seemed to be quite popular. I found it amusing how they knew some of the customers names, whom I assume are regulars.
Prices for the food range from around $10 to $30, and the drinks were reasonably priced. May be our go-to place for an occasional evening drink.
