My wife and I ordered the PT burger and fries. We went got our burgers I had a burger to cover the bun, my wife only had half of a burger on her bun. She questioned it and the waiter took it back. Then he came to say that’s how they are come and we pointed out how mine looked. He took it back and brought her a new one. She looked at her ticket and someone marked it for the old fashioned. They never once told us that was going to be done. We ate and went to pay of course they were charging us for the bigger one. We questioned why and they said that’s what we asked for and we said no it’s not. I told them we shouldn’t have to pay the difference. They refused to change it. We witnessed the manager coming in from outside never washed his hands and started cooking.

Disappointing Experience at P.T.’s Grille in Goldsboro
I’ve been a loyal customer of the P.T.’s brand for over 25 years, primarily in the Wilmington area, and have always had positive experiences. However, my visit to the Goldsboro location was incredibly disappointing—and unfortunately, will be my last.
While traveling through Goldsboro on my way to the beach, I stopped to place a to-go order. What should have been a quick stop turned into a 40-minute wait, with no clear explanation or accountability from the staff. Although someone who ordered after me and dined in received their food before I did, my concerns about the delay were essentially ignored.
When I finally asked for a refund because I couldn’t wait any longer, I was told that a manager wasn’t on site and couldn’t be reached easily. The employee said she’d have to call him, but no resolution was offered on the spot.
More troubling than the long wait was what I witnessed while standing there: the cook walked to the back, came out moments later visibly vaping (with smoke coming from his mouth and nose), and returned directly to the grill—no handwashing, no gloves. I also saw him repeatedly wipe sweat from his face with a bar towel and continue cooking, again without gloves or handwashing. These are clear food safety violations.
By the time I finally received the order, the fries were soggy and unappetizing—clearly having sat out for too long. The sandwich quality was also poor, especially compared to what I’m used to from other locations.
I called the manager, Blake Vail, the next day to explain the situation. He did not return my call as promised, so I had to follow up with him myself. Despite everything I shared—including food safety violations and the disappointing food—his only response (repeated four times) was to offer to cook me a “hot and fresh meal” if I came back. I explained that I was only passing through Goldsboro and that I would not be returning after what I experienced. I also asked to speak to someone above him, but he refused to provide that contact.
Due to the multiple health code violations I witnessed, I filed a report with the Wayne County Health Department. I was told during that call that this was not the first complaint of this nature about this location.
I sincerely hope the necessary changes are made at this restaurant—for the sake of future customers’ safety and satisfaction.

The fries tasted like five guys but the overall experience reminded me of Which Which. As soon as you go in you go to the counter and order on a piece of paper like Which Which. This is like the burger version. The burgers tasted good and were not too greasy and had good flavor. I got the food soon after sitting down. Both mine and my husbands meal was a little over $20 together. They also do military discount. And the drink is included in the meal.

DO NOT EAT HERE! Our family loves P.T.’s, but we will not return to this location. The chicken sandwiches were burnt and tasted like propane. The burger tasted like boiled meat. Even the BLT had old bacon on it. Our food was inedible. We were passing through town and ordered our food to go, otherwise I would have returned it and asked for my money back. P.T.’s in Wilmington is amazing, this one in Goldsboro is awful.

PT Grille is an average sandwich shop that uses good ingredients and has a limited selection. It is fairly priced and the quality and quantity is pretty standard. You are greeted with a friendly smile and the greeter prepares your drinks which are served in styrofoam cups while you complete a check sheet to order your sandwiches, you circle your condiments, and use this paper to pay before leaving. They have plenty of parking and seating, including a small outside patio. The interior is clean and the seating is comfortable. They stock ketchup and napkins on the tables and that’s it. They have a choice between 8 vs 4 oz burgers which are very tastee and they put grill marks on top of the buns. If you want to run in, grab a sandwich, fries, and drink (they have salads & chicken choices too) then this is a perfect place to go.

I ordered my burger well done and it was raw. I had to let someone else eat it. The fries were not too my personal liking either. Online order took 50 minutes, no one else was waiting. It’s cute though.

We came here for the black bean burger because it was highly recommended. It was just ok but what was even more troubling was the lack of cleanliness and it is apparent that it didn’t just get this way in a couple of days it’s been a while since this place was really cleaned. It appears to have a lack of management and a group of young people running the place.

I waited 45 minutes for a grilled chicken sandwich. First, it took 10 minutes for them to find out if they had pimento cheese. Then, I watched as two customers that were behind me, get their food and ate. Lastly, I asked what was taking so long. She said they have been waiting on fries. I let her know, I never ordered fries. She just said, oh… The majority of the time I’m waiting, the girl just stood there behind the counter on her phone. Safe to say, ill never go back. I was hoping that since I waited so long, the food would be great. Wrong! The bun was so soggy I couldn’t eat it. The fries they gave me, because that’s what they were waiting on were cold. Just horrible all the way around. Never again PT Grille, never again!

Kind of disappointed. We had eaten here before and it was pretty good for the price. Recently we ate at their Wilmington location and really enjoyed it. We decided we didn’t want to cook so we thought we would use our local Goldsboro branch. After my wife ordered and waited for over 30 minutes she returned home. The attached picture is my old fashioned with mayo, mustard, pickle, tomato, and jack cheese. See how many of those items you can see. The patty was dry and crumbly. The extra fries we ordered were not in the bag. My wife could not finish her burger at all. So, considering the wait, the state of the burgers, and items forgotten from order it will probably be a while before we visit this chain again, if at all. Maybe the next time we go to Wilmington.
